What I would do to drive one again. My Dad bought one in 75’ it had 26,000 miles on it and is still my favorite car and I drove some nice ones. It was fast enough but my 2017’ Jag supercharged was a blast but 73’ GP will always be my true love.

Oh man! My first car. Saved three summers for it. Black on black. Thin red pinstripe decal from nose to trunk. I pegged the speedometer far to often on Interstates around the South. The 455 engine would suck a cat down the carburetor.. Quick but not fast on the bottom end, roared at the top 3nd while cruising. Gasoline was 0.26/gal before the OPEC stunt. Good days!

Beautiful rare car. My dad had a 1973 GP 455. That car went like a raped ape!! My dad was a Pontiac salesman. He got his hands on a lot of super sweet Pontiacs.

Amazing! Identical to the one that I got in 1985; well, yours is cleaner, but holy crap what a trip down memory lane. Maybe this is my old car; does the interior have a faint odor of stale beer and girlfriends? Lol. She is a beauty.

The 73’ prettiest of that generation. Isn’t it obvious? Round headlights, real wood, engine wasn’t completely weakened so more compression/torque, real wood on door panels and dash, the 73’ sat pretty and with duel exhaust and posi traction oh what a ride. Full vinyl top too.

Yes this one is sweet, but after riding around in any of the higher horsepower car we have or a newer model vehicle. It just doesn't have that true muscle they could come with in previous years.

@@scorpionhot8388 Matter of opinion cause the 76’ was put together cheaper as 73’ used real wood and higher quality vinyl plus engine in 73 was sooo much better and faster but like we say about women I wouldn’t kick it out cause other than what I mentioned 73-77 was basically the same except headlights and taillights.

Yep you are correct. I bought a new SJ in '73. The interior was morrokide. Guess it was a high quality vinyl. No t-tops. If I remember correctly it came with an extra 10 or so hp version of the 455. Drove it 10 years and 86,000 miles. Living back then in no. Indiana it rusted away and ended up in demo derby. Mechanically was still fine even air worked.

@@tedlawrence4189 Ha! I put 175,000+ on mine. Kept it 8 years. Engine still good. That black on black with red pinstripe was indeed a "Batmobile." It would suck a cat down the carburetor passing through 60-70 mph.

That was net horsepower. Before 1972 they used gross horsepower which boasted a higher number. Gross horsepower this engine would probably be around 325. 250 net horsepower was pretty good for 1973.
