When I was a kid in 1967, my parents bought me a brand new Raleigh 3-speed in the same green color as this Triumph. It was a great bike and I wish I still had it. Your restoration of this bike brought back some happy memories. You gave new life to a classic well deserving of another chapter and the chance to make some new memories for someone who will appreciate its old-school hand craftsmanship. Great work. I'd love to see you bring some more classics back to life.

Great resto. Quick heads up at 19:00 (as you mentioned pedals being one of the few things you use torque for); for a torque reading to be correct when using a crow's foot, the crow's foot has to be 90deg to the head of the wrench, or you'll get an inaccurate reading. Great resto! Loved the hub cleaning. :)

Loves these videos, I have a 1950s Raleigh ladies bicycle which I found in the 1980s at a tip and restored it with my grandfather, it was then used by gran and then my mum and has been handed back to me. I have stripped it down to the frame now, but realised I didn’t take any photos before. 😂 so these videos are great for me to remind where everything goes.

I also use your videos in an unconventionnal way, sometimes we watch some cartoons with my daughter in bed when it's nap time. What a great Resto-Job! Gratulation! Bring back new life to old bikes is for me thousend times more satisfying then all the new, modern carbon and hightech stuff. Off cause the modern bikes are also great as sporttools and impressive, but they never come close to the charme and beauty of the old, heavy, chromloaded town or touring bikes who were built to last for Generations, carry heavy loads, bags or kids wirh you, summer and winter, year in year out. I own some of this old gems and enjoy therefor this videos the most - thank you 🎉

Thoroughly enjoyed this video, as it's for a well used but well loved bike which is more along the lines of what I work on. I'll be tagging this one for future reference as you provided an excellent view of the disassembly, cleaning and reassembly of the Sturmey Archer rear hub. I have a bike that was soooo close to being done, when I lost one of the small springs 😞, so I'm having to be patient until such time as another comes in. Thanks, Chris Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Cheers from Los Angeles. Love this restoration. Have to say I learned a lot from watching you work, as my knowledge of bike mechanics stretches only to the 1990s when road bikes and mountain bikes became standard across brands. Love the ethos of the build: make it ride ready. Hope she sees the road, it would be a shame to let her collect dust.

Thank you Mario! Glad you could get something from the videos. These old bikes are really where the passion lies for us so we love doing them as much as you guys seem to enjoy watching them!🧡⚙️

Your enjoyment and pride in your work were obvious in this video. It really shows what a proper bike shop can do. Lots of places follow the fast fit approach now but I was glad to see some proper repairs and restoration taking place. The video inspired me to get an old bike for restoration, until you took the sturney archer apart! I will leave that to the professionals!

Amazing how the condition of the planet wheels, planet hubs and starclutch are after more than 60 years. That's a other story than the ABC gearhub of these days.😄 Great piece of satisfying work by the way.

@@Bikespeeds yes that's what you've got with the throwing away society. Quality isn't that important anymore. The bikes were that good that day, that it's economical not responsible anymore. But it's a pleasure to see those bikes, especially when you disassemble them. And indeed I love to watch your video. Also just normal without hand gloves. Lovely old fashioned in that way. Only than you've got feeling with the bike.

Thanks so much for bringing this to us. A master mechanic at his work no doubt. A brilliant balance of retaining originality and renewal, and of course the spin test to end all spin tests. Superb.
