The V 6 car had 3.40 gears and the V 8 cars had 3.00.

1977 cobra II did not have Track lock as an option. I ordered My Car new, to get Trac lock I had to Order the car and the Track lock was dealer installed along with a 3.80 gear.

@@TerenceDIY If you are looking for a Track lock in a Mustang II it will have to be from a 1976 or olde.

I know now. It's in my 76. I have a vast amount of knowledge on these vehicles now since I have had 8 within the last two year and completely tore down and stripped every single part off four of them. I have to have more detailed videos on the Mustang II than the entire internet now. Lol.

I've been messing around mainly pintos for years. We used to put 460s in them the wagons. Yeah that took a lot of work. I like the mustang twos I always did thought they were worthy of more love than they ever got. But I've got a couple of pencil wagons and a mustang two I've been inside the building here as far back as 1981. I got it from the guy that bought it from the original owner and he could not get his daughter to learn how to drive a clutch. So the transmission is sitting in a crate along with the New Old stock now clutch assembly from back in 1980. Before you get too excited. No rust to speak of if any. I'd have to go back in there and look at it again on the mustang two. Every quarter panel has a dent right about the corner. The original owner little old lady just drove to church and the grocery store apparently she didn't see that well. Fortunately it's on the sides towards the end of each quarter. Plus I've got extra quarters fenders who knows what other parts. This car is a four-cylinder and hasn't been started or turned over in years. It is low miles what it shows is what it has. Never repainted and the interior is fabulous. If you're interested and you're really going to do something with it because obviously nobody in our family has ever gotten around to it. I'd like to see it fixed before the old man it came from dies. He said it never get fixed. Meaning no one would get around to fixing it. Anyway that's just a side story the car's got a couple other stories to it. Unfortunately I don't think I have the rims and tires yet they were standard rims but the mustang 2 came with. If anybody's interested just reply. I'd really like to hear from the fella who put out this video. I'm not really trying to capitalize and make a sale from his video. I just like to see this old car find a new home and be put back together. I like the detail on the straightforwardness of this video. I just subscribed. If you read this whole comment thank you. @@TerenceDIY you're welcome and looking at the one that you're doing now looks like you do good work. I like the way you went through and explained about the differentials. I do like the cars. I think they look more like mustangs then the f bodies do.

Thanks for the video. Ive been stalking axles in IIs for a while. Most of the 8” are 3:00:1 open, which is what my II has. ’76 had more lockers for some reason. I’ve resolved to just rebuild an 8” with a posi, 5 lug axles and disk brakes instead of trying to find a Granada rear end or an 8” locker from a salvaged II. Whenever you find that stuff, its always overpriced, so might as well buy new parts. I don’t think I need a 9”. They are heavier and I don’t think a basic NA 302 with a cam and heads will blow out an 8” on street driving.

Hey I’ve been watching your videos and appreciate the fact that you’re producing great content on my favorite car. My son and I just purchased a 77 with 77000 miles that we are currently trying to build up. I loved the headers on that black car, what kind of headers are those?

Thanks for watching my content. I have videos for both types of headers for these cars. I have a hooker header video install and a Hedman header install on the channel for the Mustang II. The ones that goes directly through the top are hooker. The ones that's common and the single pipe run underneath the frame are Hedman.

I'm putting a 1977 Granada 8.7 WER axle in my Pinto. I was confused when I bought it thinking it was an integral carrier version of the 8". I will need to find me a good 9 or 8.8 for when the V8 goes in. Are your 8" axles all 4 lug? I'm looking for 5 lug.

Thanks, you gave some great info on rear ends. My diff doesn’t have any tags, and it’s not in any Ford products. It’s in a kit car, 1952 MGTD V6, 4speed, front loading differential. No VIN numbers anywhere, do you know where the engine numbers would be stamped? Engine is 6cyl, carbureted, with points.

Kinda curious if you happen to have a moment to look: 1: Do any of the manuals or service books you happen to have a listing for what the torque specs are for the lug nuts (everything any mechanic and what i can find lists everything up to 73 and then of course 79 onwards) 2: If there are torque specs for the U-Bolts for the rear differential. The rear end i've got in my 78 Cobra II uses the 2.75, swappable cartridge style. Unfortunately the differential lock function apparently never functioned and ONE of the things i intend on getting improved upon. With the standard 13 inch rims paired with the largest tires that aren't even available anywhere anymore, the maximum speed obtainable was about 80mph @ 5200 rpm, which means that are something more realistic rpm wise, 3000rpm (still rather high) is around the 50mph range. While my parents (original owners) insist that they usually ran 2700rpm @ 60mph, it's suspected that when it was winning SIR raceway trophies for stock drags, the tranmission may have been modified but it's got a lot of people puzzled since the differential running 2.75 is a gearing for top speed and not for acceleration, as for what, no one seems to have a clue what or why. First gear basically does 5mph at 5000, so the car acts like a 2 speed transmission since it never shifts into first for the most part (automatic).
