I would add Peter Hammill's The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage in there, as well as Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt, but other than that, great list! The Lamb would triumph over Relayer as far as my fav prog rock album from 1974 is concerned but I do love Relayer from start to finish as well. A great year it was!

I wholeheartedly agree with all your great picks. Some other great albums that came out in 1974 that probably be on my list are: the first Utopia album ('Todd Rundgren's Utopia'), Mahavishnu Orchestra's 'Apocalypse' and the first Rush album. Keep up the great work, I'm really enjoying your content and channel!

Great list! I spent years in my youth believing ELP sped up the tapes on Welcome Back My Friends only to learn at a Carl Palmer drum clinic that they indeed played that fast. Red is my favorite King Crimson album, beautiful, heavy and a major influence on so many musicians.

Hello Cody ! I’m an avid follower of Scot and the Prog Corner, but this is my first visit to your channel. You definitely picked the ultimate lineup of prog albums for this 50th anniversary year. No arguing any of them. I was only 12 when I first heard the title track of ‘ The Lamb ‘ on the radio. I had no idea who Genesis was yet, but that amazing, Mozart like piano intro from Tony grabbed my attention like nothing else I’d ever heard before. It’s something I’ll never forget. But I wasn’t yet aware of what a masterpiece that album would be until many years later. And I could ramble on all day about those other great albums, but it’s already looking as if I’m posting an online book 😆. See you on the next Sunday livestream with Scot.
