My daughter was a Rangerette and leading lady in the Seventies at Kilgor. She is in her sixties now and can still dance. Lots of nastalga watching them at the Coton Bowl.

@@retromaven2159 It was freezing~the wind chill was in the teens! We also performed in the Cotton Bowl parade that morning. Someone filmed this halftime for our director, and we watched it once. To my knowledge, no one in our group has seen it in 50 years. I shared this to two of our Rangerette FB pages~there are quite a few that are thrilled to be able to see this now! Thank you again!

​@@melaniemarple9963 hi, i like the older style of uniform from your period. The skirt was short but had a fullness to it that's prettier than the straight ones of today. It was also denim I beliestrwhich added to its fullness.

its amazing. how good the quality of. CBS video is so good after 50 years this looks as if it could have benn taped last week frank glieber hosted the cotton bowl halftime. show for many years and lindsey nelson did the play by play well into the 1980s brings back a lot of memories of some great games

I love seeing this, when military-style marching was in vogue. A mixture of 6-to-5 and 8-to-5 drills. That's what I did in my high school and college marching band days. And, just think -- these drills were not sketched on a computer. The DCI-style shows so popular for years have never done much for me. If you have other marching band videos from back in the day, please run them.

Big Bertha was purchased in late December 1954 from C. G. Conn Music in Ellhart, Indiana. The drum was NOT in the posesession of the University of Chicago. U. of C. sent the giant drum back to Conn following WWII.

The OG dance drill team. The Rangerettes still perform at the Cotton Bowl today, albeit with canned music instead of the band and at Jerry World rather than Fair Park. All of the bowl games had their own brand of halftime pageantry, from the spectacles of the Orange Bowl to the New Orleans jazz of the Sugar Bowl.

Outstanding! Thanks for posting this. What a great halftime show. Do you happen to have the game as well? This is the first Nebraska bowl game I can remember. The Huskers outscored Texas 16-0 in the second half to win 19-3. One of the few football wins Nebraska has against the Longhorns.

This was good and yes it is better than the talking heads rehashing the first half. However, I would rather see the Apache Belles and all of their Dallas Cowboys halftime performances.
