I worked at an Oldsmobile/GMC dealer in Woodlawn, Ohio (Cincinnati) in 1976/1978 that sold these beautiful Motorhomes. So cool. So smooth. I remember that several units that were sold had engines swapped out for 1968/1969/1970 Oldsmobile Tornado 455's. These were pre emission engines that have a bunch more Horsepower/Torque. Made a huge difference in the driving experience. Thanks for posting. Good luck with your sale.

Glad you enjoyed the video, and YES, this one has that 455 from the Oldsmobile Tornado. AND now I added Doug Thorley Ceramic Headers with Magna Flow Premium Performance Welded Stainless Steel Mufflers. You can feel more power putting the pedal down with those modifications!! Looking for a new owner who will appreciate the unique situation with a good condition interior, exterior and engine...along with the unrenovated aspect. It's definitely a special experience stepping back to 70's decor.

You do have a real nice Unit.Our son bought a 1973 in 2023 and the former owner who is now 83 wanted a little more power for going up hills,so he had a 500 CC Cadillac engine and our son also had all the original papers and the repair bill for having this Cadillac engine rebuilt and the total bill for all the new parts and labor was $ 3,550.00.He also shared a interesting story of Hank Williams Sr,that he has old photos.record and other memoribilla from the 1950`s that he found in the mountains that his dad in-law aquired from Nashville on the GMC page,parts 8 & 9.Steve Groot.

Nice low center of gravity and unlike what some accuse further below...those parts don't rust. 🤓 GM engineers built the chassis custom for the RV shell, not taking a truck chassis.

So since I live in California, it would cost me to fly out there and make a decision and then have it either driven or shipped back what’s your bottom line on that just to make a sale? I understand it needs some TLC, etc. in California. We have to smog anything, newer than 1975 and that just sucks and now they’ve increased the requirements to a full safety check including removing all your wheels and checking your brakes. It’s just ridiculous out here.
@74GMCMotorhome5 ай бұрын
The good news for you is that it would seem that this 1974 GMC would allow you to bypass that inspection in California, if it is true that it is required for any vehicle "newer than 1975". I have antique plates on it here in Virginia and it gets me out of annual taxes and any yearly inspection required for other vehicles. The bottom line is that I could get more for it if it were already in California or Florida. But it's here in Central Virginia...about 2 hours from Dulles airport. There is room for negotiation, but I just posted it on #GMCRVforsale.com this week and will be promoting it more now that I've overcome my hesitation to selling it. Other experts in the market of GMC motorhomes agree that the value is in the range of $45,000 (+/-$5k) for the right enthusiast, looking for an unrenovated, good-condition, ready-to-hit-the-road GMC motorhome...and yes, screaming the 70's inside and out!

Consider the uniqueness of having an antique like this, an American automobile and RV Icon, not renovated, but yet in great condition. I beg to differ...and hope to see what the open market will offer for it, using RV Trader. Keep your eye out and tell others who might appreciate it! Cheers!
