[04 February 2024] Why do Upsetters tracks (including this one) sound so *SINISTER* , even though they're mostly Nonsense ditties composed mostly of la-la-las and scat-singing (scabba-dabba-day-bah-day-bah-day-bah, etc.)? I suppose it's all in the groove: the spooky slinky groove, and the vaguely Gothic electric piano sound. There always seemed to be something strangely haunting - strangely *HAUNTED* - about the sounds the Upsetters came up with. As if they'd felt the vibes and heard the sounds of all the duppies roaming through the seething jungle nights, and felt compelled to capture those vibes and sounds on record. As with so many Upsetters tracks, the sound on "Kiss Me Neck" is all equatorial moonlight, shadows and ghosts.

That electric piano(2.45) btw: early fela kuti sound. Coincidence, synchronicity?

[30 January 2023] Synchronicity I would hope. I know this never happened, but just *imagine* if Lee Perry had actually *met* Fela Kuti? One wonders what would have happened if they *had* actually met. What they would have said to each other. Whether they would have collaborated on any music, and whether that music would have melted peoples' minds.

xcuse me, my name is not on the guest list tonite, where can i find this lovely original mix, easier, funnier and deeper than that familiar mix on so many compilations/boxes. Give me a hint, give me clue and you will be on my guest list and kissed on your neck
