...usually a basket case is missing several parts such as a frame without a motor or a motor without a frame, but I would say that you have the entire basket case all at once that needs repair and/or replace. No matter, every old motorcycle and every old piece of a motorcycle are worth the effort...overall, you are doing just great.

I always pre oil that roller bearing before installing the clutch basket and it may be just a habit of mine but i smear a coat of good ol grease on the edges of the gasket , seals good and also comes off very easy if you need to remove the cover again .

Fair enough. I prefer to install my gaskets completely dry and clean, but theres nothing wrong with either method as long as they don't leak. I didn't pre-lube that bearing simply because it will be living in an oil bath and should be more than soaked in oil before any real load is put on it. Still though, you can never over lube a bearing...

Put the kick starter on and pulling forward to install the return spring. Oh, you forgot to wet the clutch plates when you installed them.
@JustFixIt994 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to whet them unless they are new.

Great video. I just opened up my clutch again because the engine was making this noise at idle like a vibrating bearing, disappeared when the clutch lever was pulled in. Do you remember if there was much play in the clutch basket when you were assembling it? Mine seems to be a bit loose on that roller bearing.

Sorry, that video was a few years ago and I can’t honestly remember. Might be best to ask on a forum where someone has had theirs apart more recently.

Do you no what these bikes cost new,I paid 1900.00 for a first year GT 750 ,I bought a 1971 ,in 1970 got mine early ,I guess, and how much have you invested so far,which I think you are doing amazing job on it .and I not trying to be rude either ,just curious .I am so looking forward to the day you get to ride your bike .You had done a amazing job finding parts too.

Lets just say I'm well over $1900 at this point...... so yeah..... If I was going to do it gain I'd definitely just have spent the money upfront on a better example. Although a lot of what is nickel and diming me was hidden idiocy from one of the prior owners.

Have you been able to get new triple set of points and condensors for it ,in 1972 or 1973 they want a 121.00 to put in points ,which back then I thought was a fortune.

+Ron Thompson I managed to get my hands on an electronic conversion kit for it. I hate points.

Were did you get the crank rebuilt ?
@JustFixIt994 жыл бұрын
I had a local highly skilled machinist do it. Helps that he’s also a GT750 aficionado. If your local to the lower mainland in BC I’ll happily pass along his name.

@JustFixIt99 where did u get both sprokets and what chain brand is good
@JustFixIt996 жыл бұрын
My sprockets were in good shape, so I did not replace them. If you need new ones I believe they are still available from Suzuki, as well as from many online stores. Sorry, but I can;t give you a recommendation about a good chain brand. I would suggest asking here: www.suzuki2strokes.com/forum/index.php?sid=d4597f1e09d1c26e655df9e63cdbf209

where can i buy some parts for my suzuki 750GT 1975
@JustFixIt997 жыл бұрын
So far all the parts I've needed I have bought from either eBay or from my local Suzuki dealer. Suzuki has excellent support for older bikes and still makes and sells parts for many of them On ebay there is a company called cruzinimage that makes and sell parts for these bikes and has built up a solid reputation.
