Trying to be anyways... it seems every part I look at that the previous owner touched is mangled and broken.. even the clutch basket (in an upcoming video) is out of round because of a hack repair.... this thing must have been ridden incredibly hard...

Most of what I've come across as far as cosmetics go is moisture damage. Judging by all the pine needs and other crap I've cleaned off of it I think it spent a long time outside under a tree.....

Could I ask you a question ,have you ever heard of never dull ,its a product I used to fix a lot of surface problems

You mentioned it to me once before. The answer is yes, I have a can in my garage. Great stuff, however its useless if all the chrome has flaked off....

In stead of grease/dirt collector why not sand down and best you can, put a rust killer on it then paint with Rustolium paint.

Paint likely wouldn't stick to the shiny chrome surface and would just be peeled\scraped off when they are slid into the steering head assembly. The grease protects the non visible areas so dirt isn't an issue since its again inside the steering head. I understand what your getting at, but I don't think it would work in this instance.

The kettle club is in the UK, they call them kettles, water buffalo is the north american name for them

You can put a rubber boot to cover it up

The rusty section is covered by the headlamp brackets, so you won't see it.
