Wow, what a great job!!! I really like your 'Can Do!' attitude & approach. Budget is real- and it's pretty close at the end of the day to an original. But, because it's not, it can be ridden without kid gloves on!! Best part about it- it cam be enjoyed & used as intended.

The best exhausts for Guzzis are produced in Italy Lafranconi Mistral "Agostini" with these exhausts and the presence of a compensator (the tube that goes behind the sump that connects the two exhausts) the bike will work perfectly. If you use more modern carburettors, those used by the T5 or Le Mans series, the bike will give a lot of satisfaction.

If you have a spare set of pipes or even baffles, that would help this bike tremendously as it sounds like a 1964 plymouth with no exhaust or muffler😮

A small point: I believe it's pronounced "Gu-tsee" - Italians pronounce a double z as "ts", like in pizza. My dad would really get on my case when I did that. 👍

Hey Eric, something I've been noticing about your vids for a while now...specifically the audio. When you're doing shots where you're in the frame along with the motorcycle or whatever you're showing us, your voice is quite clear. When you turn the camera away toward the bike, it becomes distorted and mushy. I might be more sensitive to this because I do have some hearing loss but it was particularly noticeable in this video, so much so I really couldn't make out your voice unless the camera was pointed at you. I also noticed you're wearing a mic today but it sounds like the one on your camera is actually recording the audio. If the one you're wearing were recording the audio, I don't think this problem would happen. Anyway, I hope this helps because the rest of your efforts are top notch. I would love to be able to hear what you're saying all the time. Cheers.

Jeff, Apologies. This is something I have been battling. I thought I had it sorted. I have been using a lapel mic from the very first video. Thanks for your feedback I will get it fixed.

What did you do to the tank? Every old bike today has a seriously rusty tank. Got any videos on that kind of work?
@motorcyclerewind
@motorcyclerewind 28 күн бұрын
This one I knew I was going to paint it. I pressure washed the inside to see how bad it is. Then used electrolysis to remove the rust. Just put the entire tank in a tub of water and washing soda with a battery charger and an anode. It like witchcraft.

The Guzzi looks great. I like the choices you made. Are those handlebar switches the ones that Brickhouse BJ was (or is) affiliated with? I know he was working with a company that did motogadget M unit type stuff. I assume he still is, but I don't know.

Can I make a guess about the snapped sidestand tang? You or someone else used it as a lever to get the bike up onto the mainstand. The theory is that you use the tang to lower the mainstand and then do the foot tango to get your weight onto the left foot of the mainstand. At this point the bike rolls over and up dead easy. In theory 😀. In practice I bet if you look, the left leg of the mainstand is bent inwards because during the foot tango, the normal response is to pull the bike towards you and so put the full 425Kgs of it onto that left mainstand leg. Solution: put a Spada, V1000G5 or California (NOT the 1100!) mainstand on there. It's a bolt-up fit and has a nice big lever on it. Second solution is to take a look at one of those mainstands and then weld up your own. IME it takes about an hour from start to finish if you're making one. Also, now you've made me look closely at it 😇that leftside lower frame rail is off either an 850-T3 California, a V1000G5 or an IdroConvert. See the plate at the front with the four holes in it? The Biggest Sidestand (kickstand) In The World (tm) bolts to that. It's about eighteen inches long and - unlike any other bike I've ever come across - as the weight of the bike goes on it, it locks into place so you can't accidently knock it over. Finally (!!) don't dent, ding, scratch or otherwise damage that fuel tank because you are highly unlikely to ever get another one. See how the gas cap hinges forward? Guzzi only did that for about eighteen months before fitting them the other way round.

You are so right... When I got this bike it only had the "longest side stand". It had been broken and crudely welded up. I couldn't walk through the shop without kicking it. So I found a center stand life is good until it snapped. After fixing this one. I thought I should have welded it to the bottom to avoid the foot tango. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, thought this might be an informative vid. I'm a European fan boy, owning Laverda's, Ducati's, Guzzi's, etc, I didn't realise till I got into this for five minutes, that you are a Yank, then I understood! It must be awkward for you guys realising other people have been making motorcycles for a while. You didn't realise that it still runs like shit. But then again, I guess that's what you expect from a HD and that's what you compare it to!
