What did you do to the tank? Every old bike today has a seriously rusty tank. Got any videos on that kind of work?
@motorcyclerewind
@motorcyclerewind 2 сағат бұрын
This one I knew I was going to paint it. I pressure washed the inside to see how bad it is. Then used electrolysis to remove the rust. Just put the entire tank in a tub of water and washing soda with a battery charger and an anode. It like witchcraft.

I'm sanding / polishing the 350 headlamp right now. Came here to see how to do it again and it appears I need more elbow grease. Headlamps are hard as they are small and curvy.

Great work Eric. It’s hard to believe these bikes came out in my last year of high school. At that time turbo cars and bikes were the latest hot thing. The big four Japanese companies all made at least one model but the turbo bike craze died almost as quickly as it began.

I prefer the works. I was cleaning dishes and I found a old knife I been looking for ages it was rusty but not much so I used the works. You have to put the rusted metal on that chemical for an hour it should eat up the rust. The only thing is that the metal gonna look all burned but you have to use a sander to take care of it.

Great stuff Eric, can nearly feel your enthusiasm all the way down here in VIC, Aus. Looking forward to the first ride on this one. A mate had one of these, and from what I can recall, it was pretty sprightly when on boost, but fairly staid when off. Love the bike purely for the rarity of it, and a reminder of the ‘turbo’ era.

“Rise from your grave!” Said to CBR600 I bought from a salvage auction. “It’s moving! It’s moving! It’s alive!”Said to a 2000 Fireblade cobbled together from junkyard parts. Yes, the bike’s name is Frank. “It’s going to run, or it’s going to break.” Don’t use that one. That line is cursed.
