I remember when Billy Welu died. I read it in the sports section when I was 8 years old. Great show, thx!

Was this a recording for AFTV for our troops serving overseas? It was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.

Irishpogi - thanx so much for posting this! I've never seen video of Mickey Higham and had only my memory to go by of watching his wicked release. Mickey was my coach at some bowling summer camps I attended in the late 70's/early 80's starting when I was about 13. And you might know me....I bowl in Nick's ABT based in Denver. I know you watch those ABT Sunday finals broadcasts most every week - I've made 3 Finals broadcasts this year and last won a Denver ABT tournament in December (Centennial Lanes).

My game is pretty tame now compared to my youth but I can still get on a roll once in a while. Here's some video from a 1995 practice session before my 2 wrist surgeries. After the surgeries, and getting married, starting a family, and building a career I got out of bowling and didn't touch a ball for almost 20 years until I bumped into and met Nick at Northglenn Lanes about 2.5 years ago (at my son's league). You know Nick...we talked and talked about the old PBA days and he convinced me to come out of "retirement" and join ABT. I had a lot more hand back then pre-surgeries: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boK0nWuCh7aIjcU

@@ZEEOH6 i watched and even subscribed to your channel. You had the Don Koko Johnson follow through there. A lot can happen to us over the years as we age. I am 56 years of age going on 80!

It is clear that Barry is dealing with the starting yips. Kinda sad knowing how much it affected him during his career.

In the summer of 1975, I was at a bowling camp for a week in WI and both Bill Spigner and Mickey Higham were coaches! Bowling all day & night, I bowled around 40 games in the 1st 2 days with Spigner as my coach and I tore up the sides of both of my middle two fingers. Starting the third day, I was coached by Higham and he taught me to properly "lift" the ball using the pads of my fingers. I wouldn't be able to finish the week without that help. I learned so much that week

Hey B-Chill - when you were at that bowling camp in WI, was that Lakeshore Lanes in Sheboygan? I attended that camp as well as a young teenager! I went four summers in a row - 1979 thru 1982. Coaches were George Pappas and Gary Dickenson my first year, and then George with Mickey Higham the next three years. Those were the best summers of my youth! Mickey was a BEAST on the lanes - besides coaching, both he and George bowled with us nearly every day of the camps. They were so gracious and they really helped my game.

Weird. Start front nine in one game then never strikes again.
