I pulled the defective battery holders out and wired a pair of 9 volt connectors in parallel. Plus to plus, minus to minus, and then each to the red and black leads from the old battery cases to the amp. The battery cases were discarded. These connectors and metal 9 volt battery clips replaced the plastic holders on the right and left. It works great with 1 or 2 batteries. Be sure to NOT wire them plus to minus. That would result in 18 volts. You only need 9 volts. Supplies easily obtained on Amazon.

The issue with this is that you don't get as much capacity as you would with AAs. Treat 9v batteries like a pack of AAAAs in series, because that's what they are inside. Also, by using AAs you can use NiMH rechargeable batteries more readily

@@meercreate Meercreate, I appreciate the prompt reply. All you say is true and correct. I went with the 9 volt solution for convenience, affordability and availability. Pig nose wants over twenty dollars for replacement holders, which I feel is exploitive, yes? I do not have the wall wart and would appreciate what you have to say about that. Please advise, and thanks for posting the pig nose clip.

The battery holders I used were insanely cheap (in the range of a few $), if you look carefully at the video. Pignose charging 20 is pretty cringe.

The wall wart is center positive....I think (because people have been known to blow up pignoses with the center negative EHX supplies not knowing any better). Don't blow up your vintage pignose with that info though. Double and triple check online

Yes I did the exact same thing to mine I used two square 9-volt batteries and they are way more reliable I bought the parts from RadioShack

It's a scandal what people throw in the trash. Good thing there are people with skills still around. Me not being one of them.

What happened was a coworker left the company, and left some things behind. They threw the stuff out, and this was one of them, among some old tube radios

Howdy Meercreate.... Thanks for posting this. I have the 7-100 and the middle battery (negative) contact point at the top where that spring is has broken off. I tried the tin foil trick to no avail. Would a bead of solder fix it? (I suck at soldering but my buddy is good at it) Do you have a link to where one can purchase those duel (3) each battery enclosures for the the Pignose? Many thanks for any guidance and have a great day.
@meercreate3 жыл бұрын
If it's corroded to that point, solder will not stick. As for the holders, the specific listing where I got mine is currently out of stock. Here's the link anyways www.ebay.com/itm/192188032872
