nothing beats the feeling of getting an old Volkswagen running again! the smiles on your faces are priceless :) They make conversion setup for running an old type1 motor in a type 4 engine bay. I wouldn't too long on a hot day without the cooling tins in there. Then again, i don't think you'll be driving it on long distances. I can't believe you did 50mph in it! :)

Relationship with dad's and enjoy a wrench our two ,I had to duck once or twice but I miss his let's get it done attitude, becaus the stuff I drove needed help? And he came from there was not much money! If you took it apart lay all the pieces in order and put back together in order , if any left, start over , it's amazing what I learned I miss him alot ( family) spend the time even if you got other plans !!

@Josh Goss , i am sorry for your dad's loss however, i would like to point out to you that the dead are dead and in their graves not in heaven as it is taught contrary to the Bible.In John 14:1-3,Jesus would not have made a promise to His disciples of going to make a place for us and would come back for us if already those die go to heaven. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 and many other Bible verses are very clear about the state of the dead.

This bus made me laugh...in a good way! It is so freakin' cool! If that graphic is Che Guevara, could be easily covered with vinyl graphic scanned at a sign shop - quick fix, the rest leave as is. Hot Wheels Kool Kombi come to life, but needs wheelie bars! You might want training wheels for turns!

Those chopped vans were big back in the 1970s, cut the center section out where the door was and weld it back together. As others have said below you need to find the engine tins to keep that engine from burning up. Great video Gentlemen.

I test drove a model just like this one for a family i knew. It was a standard and they were unsure how to drive it. It was so fun to drive. Sadly they did not buy it but i made a lasting memory.

Someone did a super short bus on one of the Islands near Vancouver, BC back in the 70s-80s. Could almost turn on itself. They used it for deliveries for 20-something years before it finally died.

Old VW trick to boost voltage to the solenoid in Beetles was an ‘extra’ Ford solenoid (or a headlight relay), to help key switch voltage ‘be enough’ for the original solenoid on the Volks starter. Done that for decades... Not toooo unusual. 😊

Bac in Florida 35 yrs ago worked with a vietnam vet.bac yard fence with cover no GRASS all fl sand and ' GEICO ' and other reptiles.also a class sand blast artist and 65 VW shorten van with the runners in BAC wouldn't tip over in BAC big motor.
