You are a lucky guy to get to hang out with your dad and do wrenching together. I enjoy all the videos, so looking forward to the build. My dad had two of these 52's. It starts out innocently enough with an LS and ends up to be a full on custom

I'm really looking forward to this. My son and I just finished a 1966 last year and I am currently doing a 1948 on an S10 chassis with an LS swap. Would love to pick up some good tips from you guys this. Good luck nad best wishes to you!

Very cool video. And I love what you guys do; rescuing old trucks and getting them back on the road. Keep up the good work! But... there is so much misinformation out there about these old GM trucks, and all old cars/trucks really. GMC never called their truck models 3100 or 3600, etc. GMC during those years called the 1/2-tons 100s, 3/4-tons 150s, 1-tons 250s, etc. Not a big deal, but something that sorta bugs me. Thanks!

305 swap my 96 GMC SLS 4.3 Vortec SONOMA 4X4 basically a S10 frame shouldn't be bad since I know what I need to do it V8 mounts for a S10 frame are easy to find. The trans I hope would just bolt right up, starting to acquire a knock when fired up after sitting a few days in the cold.
@gjpearce81074 жыл бұрын
That 305 tranny appears to be a 200-4r which is desirable to some (BOP bolt pattern). 4 speed overdrive. I run one behind my 474ci Pontiac in a 68 Firebird (it's not stock though).
@rustywrenchprojects41714 жыл бұрын
Maybe uncle frankie has an old 58 chevy or gmc laying around he would sell cheap....If so, let me know....that is my dream body style for a build....I'm sure I'll swap a s10 frame along with a little ol LSX engine in her..if i can a find good body.
@Brock_Landers4 жыл бұрын
So, I know that this truck came with the Jimmy Six, and the 305 was an upgrade (because after all, it IS a V8), but the 305 is an absolute turd without upgrades and while I've been dying to see a 305 turbo or Procharged build, you just can't argue with 325 reliable HP for $500 as opposed to 150-200 MAX HP from that anemic 305. Also, you have everything that you need right there for the swap.
@BlueRidgeJ794 жыл бұрын
I think I would've kept the 305...not everyone wants something that will burn the tires off and I think the 305 just looks a little more correct than that plastic-covered LS, but too each their own.
@papawnanabubby50054 жыл бұрын
I would love to have had that truck as a starting point. I don't have the budget, tools, shop space, etc. to do what you're doing. I understand what you're doing and why, but I would have been thrilled to scrounge a carb to get it running, fab up a dual glass pack exhaust for a little V8 rumble and have a toy to drive and low buck tinker with. I'll be watching.
@gerardhiggins12 жыл бұрын

Great content but most of what I see is you or your dad talking. I would have rather seen a full video edited with just this vehicle than the tangent of other vehicles. Clearly you have great editing skills, I’ll keep watching. I hope there’ll be more focus on how to
@Digger9274 жыл бұрын
My first vehicle was a 3100 Chevy with the five window cab. I bought it when I was 15 and gave $500 for it. It had a 283 V8 and a five speed manual transmission in it and a limited slip rear end in it. Dad and I finished it up and painted it, it was a nice first vehicle. I still have it, I just turned 44 a couple months ago. It needs rebuilt again badly now.

I know it's just one man's opinion but that 305 is in that truck for a good reason. It's a well suited engine for that size old truck body and it's simple and easy to repair. That truck is 90% complete. Anyway, I know it's too late but that's my two cents worth anyway. Fred Lundgren Katy Texas
