I check all change, coins and paper every time I receive money back. If someone else gets change, it's "Hey let me see that coin!" Just yesterday, I received an Alaska quarter in my change, and one of the bear claws has an extra thick die chip on it!

I've only ever bought silver and was not interested in coins until my grandma passed away and left me all of her coins that she used to save. Anything different looking, she would save it. She left me Peace and Morgan dollars, uncirculated rolls of bicentennial dollars and half dollars, then just a bunch of random silver quarters and dimes. She also had 100s of bicentennial quarters, buffalo nickels and wheat pennies. The nickels and wheat pennies have not been found unfortunately. I'm only recently learning if the coins I have hold any value. I've purchased a scale and a nice magnifying glass with a light. I have a new hobby! 😁

I check every single coin that I get in change, or that I find my wife has gotten back....or my kids. I have my mother check her change. I find myself looking in the tip jars at restaurants, and have even paid cash at subway for their coin tip jar (giving extra to them of course). This is a hard hobby but the hunt is on!!!

We thought we were so *awesome* lol Now with over 1000, and into so many bigger and better coins, errors are my addiction, its so worth hanging in and keep searching! Hi Guys! Well since the "Covid" pandemic, I try to mostly use debit card, then sanitize after every use.....even the lil pad you have to touch when using. However lately since I have spent though most of my savings, I have been using cash more. Every morning hubby will make a run to Dunkin Donuts and grab a few coffee's, and he brings back all of the change and sets them on my, "change checking table" I have put a lot of coins away in the past few years. A lot of MS quarters, dimes & nickels. I have noticed that the new shield pennies degrade so quickly, ..so any that look really great goes into an airtight tube, along with any other change that looks really nice. I then sanitize my hands thoroughly and stack em up. My next HUGE project is to separate each denomination coins, into "dated years" airtight's i.e. all Bicentennial quarters into tubes etc...& all 2015 'year of error coins quarters' into their dated tubes...and on and on LOL should take a very long time ;)

I always check my change!! It would be foolish not to. 1909 vbd found in change from wal-mart last year! Got a Salt River and a Marsh Billings Rock the other day!! Both mint!! You find anything good? I started looking few months before covid first started id say. I have found some good coins roll searching mostly pennies and nickels. 39 now wish i could go back to when i was a teen and srarted then. As well saving a box of each coin for each year new in rolls to. Been a great investment. But thats cool u use change to get a car part. One lucky thing i dont got to do is pay to have my cars fixed i do it my but just buy parts. But yes hope you found something good or have since.

I have always checked my change J&B. The thing is, I had an advantage over many people. And having this advantage gave me the opportunity to get all the coins I could get. So I could and would check the Soda Machines, Telephones, cash registers, and later in the years the Coin Star Machines. Now you are probably thinking that none of this sounds legit, but it was, and legal too. I began working in a grocery store at the age of 18, and retired from a grocery store. Which gave me 40 years of finding coins. But the thing is I only had eyes for Wheat Pennies. Which I have spoke of in other comments in other questions asked. Hey J, when I was 5 or 6 my friend and I would ride our bikes to his Uncles Store. And he would give us 50 cent pieces. Oh how I wish I saved some of them. lol 😂

I have 10 bicentennial quarters with the d mint mark and two of them as far as I know are completely filled in. And as far as coin searching goes I check all of my pocket change all of the time and even my dollar bills. Before I even spend them.
