I'm a beginner coin "hobbyist"... I appreciate all the information. And I'm having a exciting time looking for rare and cool coins. I've found the 1941, 42, and 43 half dollar, quarter, nickle, and penny sets... tons of bicentennial quarters, wheat pennies, and war nickel. And although nothing I have so far is terribly valuable, I'm having a blast. I found my first 2022 drooling George quarter and I'm tickled pink. Maybe one day I'll run across a very nice find. And again, THANK YOU!

What's a drooling George quarter?
@tashamarie8877 Жыл бұрын
@@nicholespencer7436 hi Nichole ❤️. the drooling George is basically a die chip (or several die chips,) in the corner of George's mouth ( call it Herpe George lol) The 2022 Women quarters Sally Ride, Maya Angelou, Nina Otero-Warren, Wilma mankiller and Anna may Wong. I found it specifically on the Sally Ride "Haley's Comet ☄️" variety. Not all the 'haleys comets' are also drooling George's but some are. There must mlbe tons out there because Ive found like 4 that have both the Haley's Comet and the drooling George As far as I know it's mainly found on the woman's series but I could be mistaken, there may be other quarters that have the oddity as well.... I'm still a noob myself, I've only been collecting for little over a year. When my dad passed away, he had a very small collection and I wanted to keep his collection going so I started learning. It's been a fun ride so far. There is soooooo much to learn though... Lawd!!! In addition to the drooling George's there are also 'warts' to look for it's basically small die chips on the forehead or on the edge of the nose. Little chips that look like little warts... I hope this helps 😀 if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask I'll help in anyway I can 🥰

I'll still hold on to my full bicentennial set. It's in a brown book, and contains all official versions of each of the coins. That's proof, and regular, in nickel clad, silver clad, and silver. I found a 1971 quarter clad proof cameo with the s mint mark in a coin roll and some very beautiful examples of regular strike bicententials. I have a few others that are deep cameo regular strike bicentennials with all the details. Out of the 20 or so that I have pulled out of pocket change atleast 3 are in near mint state. Pretty wild the stuff you can find. The only thing that could be my guess as to what would make these coins more valuble outside of the high mintage and variety may be the provenance behind the coin, perhaps that uncirculated 1976-s bicentennial was owned by Elvis or something? Who knows...

The very large price difference is due to a couple of things, those are first and formost the large did has to due with the bidders and ultimately the end price tag. With that you then also have an equal contributor being the name on the graded coin and it's previous owner who's part/roll in the Numismatic community and his renown. Thanks for the great clips and keep them coming.

This is true. When something has belonged to a famous person, it raises the value. I have been interested in the life of Marilyn Monroe for most of my life. A few years ago, I was browsing a used book store. I was drawn to a certain book on the $1.00 table. It was an older psychology book, an early self-help sort. I recognized the title as one of the titles of books that Marily loved, she read over & over, making notes in the margins. Yep, it had belonged to Marilyn Monroe. When Marilyn was reading, she would twirl her fingers in her hair. As I looked through the book, I saw several strands of hair between the pages. I bought the book. When DNA testing became available, I had some of the hairs with the follicles still attached, tested. I got ahold of a DNA profile of Marilyn & it was an identical match. The book had been her personal property, the hairs were from her. It was expensive to have this done, it was so worth it! The book, notes in the margins, hairs with follicles, are worth much more than the $1. I paid.

my grandfather passed away from covid last year (on my bday of all days). he'd saved all his change since before I was born, so needless to say there was a TON! his kids ended up cashing all of the coins in at the bank and splitting the cash between all the grandkids. when I found out that's what had been done, I couldn't help but wish they'd kept my portion in coins! I've been interested in error coins and such for years now, but I've failed to continuously be on the lookout for them just because I've never been able to find a decent info source with a comprehensive list. I always end up giving up after awhile bc every site on the subject seems to just mention coins so sporadically. I've also got like 10 or so rolls of old pennies that my bf got from his great uncle. If memory serves me right 1964 was the last year that hard coins were made of real silver

Yes, you are correct, which was something I learned from a coin collecting channel here on KZbin. Soon after I found a silver quarter of that vintage, when getting change at the laundromat. I always check my quarters each week at the laundromat.

In 90%silver content. Up to 69..Kennedy half dollars were 35 or 45 % silver. Some S minted halts in mint sets were same percentage

Thanks for the information. According to what I’ve seen in a coin collector’s book, the average bicentennial quarter is worth between 4-8 bucks.

Not true. Most are worth a quarter.

I've got a 1776-1976 D coin that looks like it was never even touched by bare hands and the E in quarter on the back is half gone. should I go get it graded or?
@judybailey1199 Жыл бұрын
Be careful for coin dealers , coins my dad had that were already graded , the coin dealer I was going to said it wasn’t an error coin but it ended up not really making any difference . There were only 2 people who knew I inherited rare valuable coins and they both stole almost all of them from me and snuck around and pawned them and sold them on the down low only getting Pennie’s for what they were worth . If they would have let me have them and sale them at an auction , I’m sure my generosity would have reaped them way more . Very sad that a super awesome time in my life turned ugly and cruel

I have read where the Bicentennial 1976 D quarter maybe worth Big $$ if the D mint mark is filled in, I looked through my coins and found 3 coins where the D mint mark is completely filled in, should I have them graded.

Great information problem is sending into PCGS you must join their company as a member which costs quite a bit and the matching of your coin hardly ever brings home a grade you think it will . Ive sent in several and a few look 3 grades higher and no recourse to get it 3 higher . They will however regrade but under no circumstances will they go higher than one grade so if you get an MS 65 an MS 66 is best it can go up even tho you have compared to their photos a 67 or better . Its frustrating and very expensive since the new inflation price increases across the board so be cautious before sending in . Ive been doing this 8 years so im not a newbie but still have much to learn . Great video tho 👍💯❤️

Isn't there always "a catch"? It can't be simple and straight forward, our fellow humans, are always making us jump through hoops, for the simplest of things. They have to turn everything into profits, sometimes justified, most of the time, unnecessary. Just greedy traps. Everything is a deviant game or sham, it seems.

Stand on your knowledge and don't let any sour apples ruin your zest for the search for the Ultimate Coin, Truth is though, you'll only find one somewhere in the Caribbean Sea, if your a A deep sea diver searching for ancient treasures. Some treasure was recently found worth around $560 Million. I know it sounds nice, but why is it always somebody else ?? Right ??

I have about 50 dollars worth that I have pulled out of change for about forty years. But I have three I bought in Japan while in the military back in the late 80’s. They are all three S mint marks that came protected in a sleeve and I believe the best one is marked BU. I’m out of the country right now for work but can send pictures next week. Thoughts.
