The 2 door Electra 225 is the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen.

Wow, this makes me miss my 76 LaSabre I bought from my grandparents for $800 in 1985. Burgundy with burgundy leather interior and a white Landau top. Nothing cruises better than an 8 cylinder GM or Ford from the 70s and 80s. I’ve had many and loved them all. I loved all my Lincolns too. Nowadays, gas is just way too expensive to drive one of these everyday, but it’d be a great weekend car for sure.

This was my 1st brand new Buick 225. Astroroof, lampmoniters, same brushed aluminum molding, chrome wheels with VOGUE tyres, but, from Jr78'15, they installed LR70-15. Some how, it improved an impressive ride. I tried to save my $$ anyway I could, you got the Cruise control, I got the speed alert. You got the auto A/C, I got the manual. Auto door locks, antenna, trunk release, trailer tow included additional cooling,,auto rear level, positive traction, & a thirsty ratio. Mine was Pewter grey, with maroon vinyl interior & triple pin stripe. A tick over $9k. I loved that car. My dad had a 76 Caddy Eldorado with FI. So, we were forever bragging to each other about our cars. Enjoy it, if you maintain it, it could last 4ever. In 79, I traded it in for a new Seville. Boy, did I regret both the ride & the lack of power my deuce & quarter ,can't compare an Olds 350 FI, to a Buick 455 Bbl. Wish they made a comeback with today's technology

My Grandpa had this car in the 80s! They were rare then but LeSabre was a little more common. Because we lived on the Texas Gulf Coast it started to rust really bad and had rust holes by the time we sold in 87'. The guy we sold it to drove it all over the country but a tree later fell on it. I was 5 when they sold it and I always remembered how roomy and soft it was. I joke to people that you could fit 5 ladies in the back seat! The car would not fit in the garage it was so big. A great example of GM cars (Buick) from the 70's era when GM had cheapened their cars so much from just a few years before. Here you have an Electra Limited that didn't even have roll-down back windows. If you compared it to just 4-5 years before you see the interiors took a big hit. The moldings around the windows deteriorated within a few years if the car wasn't garaged and pampered. I know about these things because I sold these cars back in the day when they were brand new. It was a time of high inflation and GM was run by a bunch of bean counters. Here you had a 455 engine that produced only 205 HP. This particular example is truly a museum piece and is impressive to those who were not around back in the day, but to those of us who were, it was GM heading in a very disappointing direction. Thanks for sharing this with us though.

Hi, its a one owner 1976 buick electra limited landau with only 16k original miles, mostly original paint/interior/drivetrain. First owner drove it for a couple of years and it was parked since late 80s. When I bought it it it was still wearing its original tires with a lot of tread which is a strong indicator of originality of the miles besides the overall condition. After the long hypernate sleep, 30 plus years didn't crank, we took off all the plugs and wires, cranked it, then put them back again and sprayed a bit of gas on the carb and it ran like it was parked yesterday.

Beautiful boat. Sorry, I meant car. Cars had become huge back and Americans who could afford a huge land that loved and we never thought about the cars because had become used to those big Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Cadillacs, Ford Thunderbirds, Mercury Marquis, Lincolns and Chryslers ( did I leave anyone out?) that we really paid no attention to how big the cars we drove. But they were big luxurious, comfortable cruisers that loved gasoline. My dad' s big 1975 Chevy Impala wth a 350 V8 engine could get no more than 15 mpg on the highway and I had a 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme didn't do much better even with a 3.8 litre V6 engine. What would you expect? A heavy 3800 lb. car trying to propel itself along too small an emissions controlled chocked down engine much too small for the car but that's the only way he'd have it if wanted the car. A V8 motor was out of the question. A V8 car was Ok for him but not me. I've never understood that. I was not a fast driver who did burn outs or raced. I was a responsible driver and still am. Hot rodding has never been in my blood. I do miss the land yachts. I know that they were not economical but they were so beautiful. They had character, something cars of today totally lack. Don't get me wrong. I do like my Toyota Corolla which will run a month on a tank of gas and insanely reliable so it never breaks down. I'm a retired unmarried man so the car is perfect for me it's 1.8 Litre 4 cylinder runs great because of advancements in technology so I'm happy but I fail to see car, truck or SUV out there that will be tomorrows classics. Time moves on and waits for nothing. I love yesterday's classics but they can only show pieces stored inside to preserve their beauty and not meant to driven daily in 2021.
