Great story and video! I am 74yo, and at the age of 28 I bought two brand new 1976 Caddy one a Coupe de Ville white leather interior and. a Sedan de Ville d'Elegance dark green pillow cushion seats both cars Kingswood Green. Besides The 1973 Dark Brown Cream Vinyl Top Coupe de Vile these three Caddy were my favorite for comfort and driving ever period1 If I had the money I'd give it to you to have a complete frame off restoration. You are so very lucky too have such a beautiful gift from your Grandparents. God Bless you and yours!

Fantastic video, thanks for sharing, these cars were built for this kind of stuff, comfortably floating down the highway with ease and could easily do 75 - 80 with no effort at all. Nice colour combination, I have a 73 Fleetwood that when I’m driving I refer to it as my living room on wheels. This was back when they made quality cars

Hi from Sydney , Australia. I have 2 of these a black '74 Fleetwood Talisman I have been driving now for 40 years, & my "spare" a white 1972 70th Anniversary Fleetwood Brougham that I have owned for 32 years. They have been maintained regardless of cost as registered for business use, all running costs have been offset against income tax. They have been flawlessly reliable both are right hand drive, assembled by GM-Holden Australia, also we had no anti-pollution EPA laws for years to come. So Aussie RHD ones have full power engines, not hobbled and detuned like US home market cars. So they have more punch than a 1960's muscle car. I have a country house/property, both mine frequently make the 800kilometre trip (500miles) from Sydney. Nothing compares to them for long road trips.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy this video as much as I did. That 76 Fleetwood is positively iconic & watching you wash her at the end was pure automotive porn! I recently acquired a 77 Coupe DeVille with 40k original miles & plan to take several road trips with her. Curious…where did you find those (proper) whitewall tires? I just had a set of 1 3/8” whitewall tires installed myself but - at a trusted friend’s suggestion - went w/ a Chinese brand cause he said the Cokers were garbage. Please keep us posted on your progress w/ her!

Would like to know what it cost you in Gas round trip
@bixbyvision5846 Жыл бұрын
This was one-way, so roughly 700 miles, prevailing price at that time of $3.25/gallon, 11.4 MPG making 61 gallons necessary - just under $200.00. For context's sake - the 1976 average gasoline price in the U.S. was $0.59/gallon, so when the car was new the trip would have cost just under $40.00 (in 1976 dollars.)

Ha! It would have been better if not for the traffic jam on I-95 in SC. Note that this car does not have an overdrive transmission.
@VintageVaughnVehiclces2 жыл бұрын
On my Cadillacs when that happens I always know it's the fuel pump the ethanol gas is destroyed the rubber diaphragm. It happens so often that I keep a spare fuel pump in the trunk and I only run non-ethanol gas now and it stopped happening. It's the ethanol enhanced gasoline it hates old cars it rusts out the fuel system. Yeah it's lately it's only 30 cents more a gallon. And it's worth it to not have to crawl under the car and replace that fuel pump I keep the new one in the trunk cuz it just happened so frequently. It also eats the float in the gas tank which tells you how much you got. Ever since I stopped running the gas they sell everybody else for their plastic cars and only use the non-ethanol fuel sold a lot for boats. The cars reliability came back never a fuel system problem again.
@bixbyvision58462 жыл бұрын
on the same page! have a new fuel pump and sending unit, planning a carb rebuild as well. cheers!
