1976 Dodge Van. "Death Trap"

I remember back in the 80’s driving while on my dads lap across the Bay Bridge. That van went everywhere and made lots of memories. Grunion runs in SD to trips from SF to Reno.

Go man go! Love the ol'Dodge Vans the best. I bought a 78 orange tradesman100 in 85 and drove it for 6-7yrs. The 318 was hardcore and surprised me many times lol I was all of 24 or so when I bought it in MplsMn.. so I ran it on dirty oil a few times and once the front seal started leaking but still drove it home.. the last 50 miles it would overheat every 5-8miles so I'd cut the motor n let it cool than run it again. Had no effect on that motor ..always ran like an animal! Also like the Chevys to.

Great van, Love the flat black finish. Totally agree with getting a van with zero cut outs or sunroofs, they're just a leak waiting to happen.

I had a brown shortie B200 Sportsman 318 engine and a 4.10 Dana 60 rear-end. I bought it off a neighbor woman who's husband had passed away. I put a B&M shift kit in the tranny and it barked the tires when it shifted. Unfortunately it got totaled. I've owned 4 early Dodge vans and still love them.

I was raised on these old tradesmen's since the seventies to the mid 90s. Then I bought 3 of them from 1999 to 2014. I got Ill and lost everything, before I got the chance to build one up the way I wanted. I want to build the coolest 72-77 tradesman ever seen. I could still use a 2000s ram van, and change the nose and taillights. I hope one day

It's Actually a Memory Foam Mattress. Same as you would Buy for your Bedroom. It was Expensive but I wanted to be Comfortable. ✌️😉

I love all vans but the Dodge had it in the 70s they were definitely the best sharpest looking van of their time I would say all time my buddy's got a 77 black sharp ass truck I love side pipes

Back in 1975 my neighbor had a 1966 chevy van we would haul our dirt bikes in it 6 cyl 3 on the tree drop I beam axle every bump was a carnival bounce house ride but we had a blast VANS made the USA!

I love the van I have a 1973 dodge sportsman with a 360 in it and a 727 trans that was converted over by coachman to be a 23 foot class C RV back in 1973 which you can actually see on my channel I have just started the restoration on it

When your 25 years old, have a Crappy Job, & live on your own at a place with No Garage in Wisconsin. You can't afford $100.+ a Month for a Storage Unit to Keep it out of the Elements. The Rust Sneaks up on you over time Gradually. The Bodies Not that Bad, but the Frame, inner Fenders, & Battery Tray got Pretty Bad. And those are things you Don't see from the outside, until you start Working on it. The '77 also had a Blown Tranny which Contributed to it being Parked for a few years & not being Driven. It's Always Easier to put it off until next Month, or Next Year. Now I know, & I Learned the Hard way. The '77 is Still Saveable but it would be Cheaper & Quicker to go the Route I am taking.

Unsure. I will be Taking Parts Off it to Complete the New '76 Project, so it won't be 100% Complete. But I would Much rather sell it Cheap to a Body Guy the Restores Vehicles in his Home Shop than to Send it to the Junkyard. Depends on the Offer & the Buyer. I would Only Sell it if I knew for Sure it would be Saved & Live on.

Sorry for Taking Forever to Respond. Didn't See your Comment until now. Wheels are made by American Racing. Torque Thrust II Maybe? They are 15" × 8" up Front, 15" × 10" in the Rear. Not Sure /Don't Remember the Exact Tire Sizes, I would have to Physical Read them off the Tire.

I have been kicking around buying an old van. Did you have any issues finding parts for your van . Like break and drivetrain parts. I have heard finding stuff like that for old dodge trucks and Vans can be an issue.

Didn’t have too Much Trouble Finding Parts, Most from RockAuto. But I Did pay $200. for a NOS Blinker Switch from Ebay. 😳 Still in the Original Mopar Box. Junkyards are Also an Option for Certain things.
