I still remember how they were imported from Finland to Estonia around 1994. They all were terrible rust buckets but 😅then there was not technical inspection in Estonia. It is a wonder this W115 survived this long sitting outside.

In Germany, when i saw a surviving W115 "Strichacht" in the 80s or 90s they were mostly driven by long haired students, held together by filler, sprayfoam, old newspapers und paint. I think it was quite an "anti-establishment" thing. ;)

I was a soldier in the 70s and 80s in Germany and rode in taxis like this one often. I remember them being very solid and very well maintained. Not to mention comfortable. Some of these cars seemed new even though they sometimes were built in 1963.

Taxifahrer hatten damals in den 60- 70iger Jahren mit ihren unkaputtbaren Mercedes 200 D und 220 D nicht selten 1 Mio km und mehr auf der Uhr. Echte deutsche Wertarbeit. Diese Fhrz. liefen bei jedem Wetter rund um die Uhr. Alle 10000 km einen Öl- und Filterwechsel und fertig. Alte Taxifahrer vergessen ihre 200 D Autos niemals. Als junger Mann kaufte ich 1972 meinen 1. Mercedes 200 D Bj.1968 mit 90000 km auf der Uhr. Das Fhrz war zuvor beim Bosch- Kundendienst täglich als Servicewagen unterwegs und war bei Übergabe immer noch wie neu. Der 200 D Dieselmotor lief noch jahrelang wie ein Uhrwerk. Das Fhrz wurde später nach Portugal verkauft und wurde dort noch jahrelang als Taxi genutzt. Über die Jahre besaß ich insgesamt sieben Mercedes- Fhrz. und noch andere hochwertige Marken. Der 200 D war mir in der Rückschau von allen Fhrz. der liebste. Zeitlos schönes Design, extrem zuverlässig, robust, tolle Strassenlage, beste Rundumsicht, Motor sprang bei jedem Wetter sofort immer an. Ging niemals kaputt und war im Unterhalt total preiswert. Tolles Auto

Bis zum 126er waren es noch die wahren Mercedes mit Qualität! Ich hatte einen 115, 200er, einen 250C mit 280er Vergaser, einen 107er,280SLC und einen 300SE! Die heutigen mit Electronic sind nicht mehr meine Autos!

Завелся, бедолага. 😊 Но ездить ему уже не судьба. Был у меня такой в начале 90-х. За 200 марок немец отдал. Он мне и не нужен был, но надо было вещи привезти в Польшу, как раз его хватило. И на удивление, он ещё полгода у меня поездил без малейших поломок,а потом ещё и продан был поляку на запчасти. У него такой же был. При нормальном хранении и обслуживании - машина реально вечная. Парням уважение. И с новым годом!🎉

Ein Kultauto startet nach 16 Jahren wieder! Nach der Reinigung sehen die Chromteile fast wie neu aus. Da sieht man, wie gut sie damals Autos gebaut haben, wäre da leider nicht der Rost...vielleicht hat ja irgend jemand noch eine Karosserie für diesen Benz herumliegen. Tolles Video!

Mit regelmäßiger Pflege inkl. Autowäsche kann dieser extreme Verfall durchaus vermieden werden. Ich hatte drei 240er im Laufe zweier Jahrzehnte, und es war kein Problem die Karosserien rostfrei zu halten. Da gehört es sich halt, etwas gewissenhaft zu sein, dann klappt alles auch ohne Kopfschmerzen.

"Drosselklappe" It's a throttle valve due to the construction of this engine. Pre-ignition chamber and a near fail-proof engine. Some have 1 million km on the clock and still run like day 1.
