This is a Very nice car we have found it to have 1 Owner and the car is in Great shape a little TLC and the car could be perfect. Right now the car is in Clean Un restored condition and makes a great driver. these cars are a steal & they are RARE a Great Investment they are popular cars and there just is not that many of them around. First year 1974 was monikered Gran Torino Elite. From 1975 to the end of its model run was Ford Elite.

Some 1975 and 1976 FORD Elites were misnamed by FORD in 1976 and 1975 as FORD Grand Torino Elites, officially the name Grand Torino was dropped from this car at the end of the 1974 model year, but I owned a 1976 model which was titled and labelled as a 1976 Grand Torino Elite. I have only encountered 2 cars - one a 1975 and the other (mine a 1976) titled and labeled as Grand Torino Elites.

This is a Ford Elite. The first year this model came out (1974) it was called a "Gran Torino Elite", but in 75 the Elite became a separate model line apart from the Torino/Gran Torino models.

My mom had a 76. It was the best car that she ever owned. My brother and I loved it too. It was cooler than any of my friends parents car. And POWER like herds of horses!!! 😂 I'd love to have it today.

owned one in 1984. its not a Gran Torino its a Ford Elite. if it were a Torino it would have badging's/logo & be on the title. Mine had elite badging's on the front finders just under the trim . if it were a Torino it would have the logo there. ' Starsky & Hutch ' car was a Torino. yes, if you replaced carpet definitely 126k - nice ride. thumbs up

That's a 1976 Gran Torino Elite. I used to own one that I loved but sadly it got totaled. That's the same car except mine was red on red with the Landau half vinyl top

Had one in high sc. White with blue top. 351 windsors are in them. Racing ones were the Torinos. They came with Cleveland 351.

The Elites were beautiful cars, one of the prettiest that Ford ever made in my opinion. I have driven them, I use to work at a Ford dealership, but they are seriously lacking when it comes to horsepower. The LTD 2 is another one that's lacking in horsepower. But both were really pretty cars, this one is a beauty. =)

Really? My 351M400 was a fast car, but it didn't have the stock 2 barrel carb, it had a 4 barrel intake and holly 4 barrel.

My dad's first car was a brown 74' Gran Torino coupe.After he got his second car that was a maroon 76' Ford Thunderbird!It was even bigger than the Torino he told me! My uncle got the Torino!He had the T-bird until 87! That thing was massive! I was too little at the time when they still had them in the 80's but I remember vaguely.My mom drove it until 87. My dad sold the T-Bird to a family friend.The friend was a auto body tech.Car was brought back to mint! Bought it back in 91' poor car sat for almost a decade outside against the elements!:( He sold it again 200 bucks! Soooo sad!

That`s a GranTorino but the Elite was the best of the Gran Torino, kinda like the springer in Harley. It came with a 351, a 400 or a 460 . Probably the one most fun of the last of the large muscle cars to ever be built by any factory. After that, the cars started to shrink right down, people wanted compact. I remember when older people would say " all the cars are going to get smaller like in Europe". Wow ! does that make me old ?

This car started out as a “Gran Torino Elite” in 1974, to compete with Chevy Monte Carlo, etc.. in 1976, the car was marketed as “Ford Elite”. This was a Ford Torino, in chassis, basic body structure roof, glass, dashboard, etc. the main differences were in the front header, headlamps, grille, hood, opera “twindows” and smoother, non-sculptured bodyside, and unique taillamp panel...The Elite was closely related to the new larger class Cougar XR-7 which also ran this curvy bodystyle from 1974-76...with its own slight variation in trim and styling decor.

It could very well have been only 26K miles. I just bought an '84 Cutlass Supreme from an elderly man who could no longer drive due to poor eyesight. It has 26K miles and was always garaged as well. I have all of the maintenance records and you can see that he only drove a few hundred miles per year.

If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t the Ford Elite a segway between the Torino & the Granada in the mid 70’s? I think it allowed FoMoCo to more naturally morph & evolve the Torino into what would eventually become the Granada. After which, Granada would then morph into the Fairmont/Futura, then the Fox Body LTD, etc, etc....

Nice ride but needs some BF Goodrich T/A's white letter tires white wall s make it look like an OLD Man car! Mon had one when I was a kidin dark metal flake green,and I had two cougars in this body style . Great looking cars but lame HP and poor gas mileage! Mom's was a police 400 modified that one was very fast also rare I wish I still had it !

To be for real this is the real bat-mobile not in literal sence but in a elucidated sence. TO NOW THIS CARS HISTORY is to know this is one of the best cars ever made. people joke but this car too car freaks it just as special as any of the big names. I'll let you guys imagine and create ideas about that I'm not telling ya... too much because there are too many nay-sayers and jokers who have a narrow sense of motor vehicles and nostalgia. It's sad, and good in a way; there's just not a whole whole lot of motor heads and car freaks that i grew with anymore.

If you want a comparison. It would be like buying a Nissan Maxima. The top of the line Nissan, without shelling out for a low end Infiniti. In other words, what you have is a Torino Gran Elite, top of the line Ford car, if someone didn't want to shell out for the name of a higher end Mercury or entry level Lincoln car. What you have is a classic. Get those dings smoothed out and rechrome what you need too, if you have the means too. I use to see these cars all over California. Not anymore.
