1976 JOHNSON OUTBOARD RUN

My Great Grandpa's 1976 Johnson 25 HP outboard motor. She might need a little tuning, but she gets up and goes!

I loved the looks of the 1976 Johnsons. Yours is in great condition. Sounds like it is running too lean at idle - You might want to richen up the low speed needle (back out 1/4 turn) and see if the "sneezing" at idle goes away.

Just a comment, the primer bulb belongs at the tank (to push) not at the engine, trying "to suck"

With all of my modifications to the boat and just me on board I clocked her just under 25mph. I can definitely troll with it. It can maintain a steady speed. I’ll get back to you with the prop when I can find the info.

@@finsformation That is pretty respectable! I love how light these motors are. I have a 1974 johnson that I have been working on all winter. Runs awesome now I am just wondering what your running and what to expect. The pitch number is under the cone nut that holds the prop on. Mine has a 9x9 wondering if it will be a good match for my boat or not. You setup is awesome fyi

İ have exactly the same and perfect condition but the only problem is, it keeps breaking the propeller shear pin and İ don't know the reason , because of that İ cant rely on it
