Bernard Falk reports on the seemingly idyllic schooling system on the Isles of Scilly. He visits the tiny primary school on St Agnes Island, the only school on the entire island. The school has just six pupils and one teacher, the wonderfully named Marigold Bush - an islander herself and a former pupil of the school.
This is a beautiful little snapshot of island life.

I need to visit the Isles of Scilly once a year. It's difficult to fathom that such islands are a part of England. The character of them and the landscape are unique and they have me, hook, line and sinker. I adore the place.

Thank You for this. Ah I remember I was 11 years old and went to the Scilly`s with my parents and sisters in 76. Made friends with a local lad same age who was on his summer hols. I still visit these gorgeous Islands whenever I can.

The primary education on the off islands is still similar to the video but with the modern stuff you get in primary schools these days. I moved to the mainland 5 years ago, the early years my children had on Scilly were amazing.

Brought up in an isolated community like St Agnes can make for a boring childhood. But as an adult, it's something you cherish, to know everyone well and be helpful to one another, compared to the anonymous indifference of a large city.
