This rare Rolls Royce Camargue one of only 531 ever produced had certainly lived a life. The leather on the drives seat was worn very thin and the drivers bolster had large splits in it.
The owner wanted to retain the cars originality by getting the special stone coloured Nuella Connolly leather restored back to near new condition. He was concerned that a re-trim in new leather would loose the cars character and seat patina.
After discussing it through with me I took on the restoration, I had restored a Camargue previously and knew the quality of the original leather.
Needless to say these front seats did take quite a bit of restoration, the large splits had to be repaired and all the very thin leather chemically strengthened, which all the while retaining flexibility and patina.
The owner and I were very please with the results, the sheepskin rugs were thoroughly steam cleaned and the result took years off the interior of this car.
All ready to be used on that next jaunt to Monte Carlo, via a few petrol stations.
If your Rolls requires some leather restoration please do email me some photos and details and I'll happily give you my professional opinion.
Regards
Colin.
