I remember seeing information on the output shaft spacer, had groove machined to accept an o-ring to prevent leak between sprocket and spacer. would that be worth the time, I don’t think mine has ever leaked much if any there.

I have a question for some one..? whats the difference in size dealing with the 1980 4 speed main gear drive spacer,,,,,,Harley has so far 3 if not more different numbers for chain and belt drive..ok great!!!!! so how do ya tell which is what.. problem: the sprocket is wearing against the trans case ..So some one put in which one..?and how many do i have to buy till I get the right size !!!!!!!!!!! my wonderful book is not so wonderful,,,,not even a distance spec..not happy here..

the harley parts book list what you need. just look up the one you need for your application and get that one. you didn't say what your application is. you have one that is too thin and you took one out so you should have a good idea what will work and what will not work. common since goes a long way here. tatro

@@TatroMachine : its for 85 fxst chain drive with the 1980 4 speed : I found the parts but they didnt say what the facing thickness was..that's what i needed..But i found it...So now i"m wondering what's the stock starting point for clearance..(how close ) to the case should it be ...I can make it 0.002 out to 0.050 thou out...pending chain alignment...just wondering..
