This car is very rare for two reasons first they only made 892 5 speed sticks and only 300 were salons with t-tops the rest were CUTASS S and 442.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT IF YOU WANTED A 5 SPEED IN THE 1977 CUTLASS, YOU HAD TO TAKE THE 260 V8, AN ENGINE GOOD ONLY AS A BOAT ANCHOR.
@stevebot2 жыл бұрын
The 260 was a great engine as long as you didn't want to move too quickly and it still had enough power to blow up the crapcan Borg Warner T50 tranny.

wow, brings back many fond memories. I had the same color scheme except with a white landau and an automatic. Damn I miss that car.

Why did some of these have a straight up and Down grill and some had one that stuck out?
@TheMartian19666 жыл бұрын
SonnyGTA Oldsmobile all ways used the waterfall grill but I don’t understand how you say they stick out.

1976 S & 1977 442 got more aerodynamic slanted grill, but I find them ugly, though. Ditto the rear side windows, which actually give rear passengers pleasant unobstructed peripheral vision. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoqcqaycnaaFrdU kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2mYmYSpqdStgNk kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWfblZumhrynfJI

First time I've ever seen a 1976-'77 Cutlass with a stick-shift. And this is supposed to be a 'personal luxury' vehicle, almost identical to the luxurious 1977 Buick Regal.

Man this cutlass is so hard great job. I'm a cutty boy too. I have 5 cutlass 4 I'm keeping might give one to my son. 2 76 and 2 77 and one 79. My 77 is a top no stick shift tho.

I HAD A 75 SALON WAT I HATED ABOUT THE SALON IS THAT IT COMES WITH HUGE AIRPLANE SEATS....I HAD SOMEBODY CUSTOMIZE THEM SHORTER IT LOOKED WAY BETTER TOO...I ALSO HAD A CUTLASS SUPREME 75 ...THE SALON HAD MORE HP...FOR SOME REASON. I DONT KNOW WHY IF THEY BOTH HAD A 350.

5 Speed was ONLY available in the 260 V8.The kool thing is the shift pattern.R is were 1 should be and 1 is were 2 should be.
@winstonelston57436 жыл бұрын
The reason for the shift pattern was that the designers expected that the most frequent shifts in town would involve second and third, and the most frequent shifts on the highway would be between fourth and fifth. versions of this transmission were also available in the subcompact Vega and Monzas, and their clones. Incidentally, you may remember that Porsche used this shift pattern, as did some of the Datsun F10 models.

Beautiful car. That's a 260 V8, right? I always thought the five-speed manual was a really cool option, and that '76-77 body (especially with no vinyl roof) was elegant. I'm glad to see it's well cared for.

HEY U HAVE THE SAME SEATS THAT I HAD TO CUSTOMIZE...IT'S EAZY BRO ALL IT IS ...IS A PLATE WHICH GETS CUT THEN U SOW IT RITE BACK UP. IM TELLING DO IT....IT HAS A MUCH CLEANER LOOK.....AND IT STILL PROTECTS UR HEAD...EVEN THO THESE CARS ARE LIKE TANKS. TRUE STORY WHEN WE DID THE BODY WORK ON MY 75 SALON AND SUPREME...WE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING THE DENT PULLER IN...THE SCREWS WOULD BREAK...THAT HOW THICK THE METAL ON THE FENDERS WERE....LOL. I CAN TELL U OF MANY ACCIDENTS WE HAD IN THOSE CARS AND NEVER EVER GOT HURT OR DENTED...ESECIALLY BEING REAR ENDED FROM THE BACK...MAN THAT MONTE CARLOS WAS TOTALED WHEN IT HIT OUR CUTLASS.
