I hope you enjoy this video of my process for restoring a 1977 Super Commander figure! It was needless to say difficult and tedious and a learning experience!! Cheers! #gijoe #supergijoe #superjoeadventureteam #actionfiguress #skunkworkscustoms

You did such a great job pressing on and proving how determination can lead to success despite the setbacks. You’ve also highlighted the need for a real design that can be implemented with quality materials at an affordable price. Thanks for showing all of us the the way along w the trials and tribulations. I really want to add some Super joes to my collection and I’m sure other collectors feel the same way. Your video on 12” Super Joe Mods/builds was cool as well. Kudos to all your hard work!! 👍👍🙌

No matter what, I think you did a good job under the circumstances. Super Joe figures are rare and it was great to see you repair him to an object to be displayed. I'm glad you decided to post this film despite the fact that doing the restoration was frustrating and you were injured. It shows reality and courage in your perseverance to see it completed. Loved this film and I'm a new fan and subscriber. Please continue the great work! I'm a big G.I. Joe fan and collector as well as big Jim, mego action figures and other figures. All the very best!

My buddies and I were divided, some of us were GI Joe/Action Man, some were Big Jim, and then there was the other group that had Mego or Marx Johnny West. By the time GI Joe was phasing out, I had discovered Micronauts, which I think are the best toy ever made, with the exception of Joe, and the new Space Lego when it came out. I never got into 9" or 10" figures. I got a Big Jim for a B'day gift one year from a friend at a party, and never liked it, the bald guy with the steel hand!!!!...I always felt that the smaller sized figures were the poor mans Joe. I will say that the Big Jim truck/camper set, Sport Camper Van and many of the accessories were pretty cool. I will never understand why it was that every toy with the exception of the AT, had a back pack available. Yes, the army Joe's had them, Action Man had them, but to find a sleeping bag and pack for Joe's Adventure Team was stupid....I used some of my sisters Barbie camping accessories, and often would car-jack the 3' Barbie Western Star GMC motorhome when a group of Joe's had a long mission in the barrens of the back yard.

This was a very good video to see, I know the frustration of some restorations myself, on top of that this is one I've been looking to get into. I've done muscle body joes before and figured this would be similar like you did, I see I would have been wrong. I have been looking on and off for a super joe to restore and just haven't found one at a price I wanted to pay, you have given me a good look into what I would be in for if I ever do get one, thanks.

Hey man! Yeah it was a tough first try. However I actually took a break, rethought it and tried again and was successful. I plan on showing the redo in my next what’s in the shop!

Another entertaining video. I had several super joes, I loved them (they weren't Adventure Team but at the time fed my craving for Joe), I hope to add one to the collection one day but now I see I will not try a restoration. Cudos on putting video out to show difficulty. Finally, I (as a former bouncer with many sick injuries) was impressed by the use of super glue to close the wound, a valuable tool many people don't know the value of super glue in first add. You are always entertaining, now more custom figures from your past!

Good video! It is a real bear fixing these. It's not you it's their design. The easiest method is the straw method on 3D Joe site. Basically use Capri type straws to hold together the figure. 10 minutes it's up on your shelf. Not great method for posing but great for display. There is a french repair book that shows how to make joints yourself. Super Joe 1977 FB has many people who have molded by hand the joints and hands. Good Luck everyone!

This was an ambitious restoration. A good rule of thumb for toy restoration is to try the simplest fix first and go from there. I did like how you attached the hands with the styrene rods. Did you happen to see the Super Joe restoration video put out by John Wild?

Ha ya you’re right but I don’t usually do it that way. Gunfighters get shot sometimes. I have seen his. It’s a good one as well. I did manage to try again using a different method. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ-lkn2ebMapZ9E

Great job! Super Joe restoration is never easy. Just FYI, I’ve been a fan of Super Joe since they first came out and Hasbro manufactured Super Joe not just in 1977 but for two years, 1977 and 1978. In 1978 they added Darkon and the Terron beast to the line.

I have had a couple of exacto slicings when I use to build plastic models so I know how painful those are. When you said you were going to be restoring a Super JOE I didn’t realize that meant slicing all the pieces apart. Holy cow, you have a ton more patience than I do! Anyway, great video...it looked good at the end. My boss at work use to say “but was the juice worth the squeeze”....Ha!

I tried to restore a luminos.figure. while taking it apart I split my hand open nicked an artery and had to get 11 stitches only to find out that none of the shapeways parts work for luminos. I still haven't finished it.

I work with Shapeways on the design side with 3D Mego products and what the problem is the designer selected of the 92 materials they offer probably the cheapest one they got. I find versatile plastic to be good but thats not even including the metals that the products and be created in. So, the designer is just basically and unfortunately ripping ppl off.

Those joints and parts should be made out of metal nowadays. I wouldn't have tried to split Super Joe down the seams though... that original plastic/rubber is super brittle andI know I'd crack it up into dust.

THIS was a Joe line that never got a fair shot. Think of the aliens that they could have done with this line. The space station set, the mission sets... If there could have been a solid line at a smaller scale- THIS should be it in a reboot. They had some great characters, but they didn't follow on the natural progression that could have taken Joe into the next era with a live action Sid and Marty Kroft Saturday Morning Live action cartoon....

4 sure. Like I said if it was originally a 3-3/4 line it may have been better received. I would like to see Hasbro do a Legends GI Joe line and release some Super Joe figures.
