Now, I know that this isn't exactly a realistic addition to Star Wars canon, but let’s just pretend that after the destruction of the Imperial base on Scarif, somehow junkers were able to salvage a few remaining pieces of K-2 and miraculously, despite being directly in the Death Star’s laser blast radius, he’s still in relatively good condition.😅

Bro this might be my favorite one yet. Whipping up an eye out of random parts including an IKEA sink drain? That feels like what the prop builders on Episodes IV, V, and VI were probably doing. This build channels so much of that OG trilogy energy. Keep up the incredible work.

Also that clean copper shimmer does absolutely make it, great choice

Heck yeah! Thanks so much. Always trying to channel the energy of those OG ILM fellas

I've said it before, but your builds look studio/ movie quality! Using the soldering iron to make the damage and then using the metal shavings makes this look so realistic. Well i guess it kinda is since you used real metal lol. Definetly going to have to try this technique the next time I need to apply wealthering. Great job!

@@brungerbuilds Amazing build. I love the level of damage with that hole blown out the back. I've just started making my own props and I'm realizing how difficult it is to get the correct level of damage, wear, and grime. It's so easy to go to far. The flickering lights are a nice touch.

Thanks! I agree, it takes some getting used to in order to know when enough is enough. You can always add more, but can’t necessarily take it away 😅

Something I like to think when doing battle damage is that the more damage you apply, either intentional or not, you do not have to recover it. it is supposed to be damaged so it is fine to go a little over board. If you were trying to go for a screen accurate look, then my process would fall apart. but since we never see K-2SO as a scrap heap, what you did is totally fine.

You’re totally right! It’s always a little scary trying a new technique and I was just way too in my head 😅

Looks sweet, i think one aspect of the rust that this method doesnt get is the flakiness. Not sure how you would do that but whenever i see rusty metal it always looks very flaky and chippable
@brungerbuildsАй бұрын
It can depend on the rust, but you’re definitely right. I had hoped that would happen by applying the iron under the Tamiya paint, but it didn’t 🤷🏻♂️

This build taught me so many techniques I wanna apply to my Star-Lord helmet. The K2 build came out amazingly well done. Can I ask what you’re using to dry brush at 1:36? Keep up the amazing work and I’ll definitely be watching 🫡
@brungerbuildsАй бұрын
Thank you! I exclusively use Vallejo’s Metal Color line to dry brush. To be honest, I haven’t tried any other alternatives because all their metal tones are so great that I feel no need to look elsewhere haha! On this build I’m pretty sure I used Duraluminum (maybe White Aluminum) for the mouth and Engine Manifold for the lower piece that wraps around the head. Might have also used Gun Metal Grey for a couple details too 🤔
@milanmartinez7686Ай бұрын
@@brungerbuilds I appreciate the reply back, I did wanna follow up and ask if and how you sealed the tamiya TS-40? Thanks for all the info, it’s really useful.
@brungerbuildsАй бұрын
I didn’t bother sealing the TS-40. It seems to be a pretty resilient paint and since my piece is just for display I didn’t mind it being unsealed. Keep in mind though that TS-40 is lacquer based which will eat away at an enamel base coat (hence the water based matte varnish over my brown rattle can and before the lacquer)
