I start a new build with a 1977 Malibu Classic that has been severely rusted out in the past. It pretty much needs a complete body swap, so let's get started! In this video I finish the last step in the body swap by replacing fenders, core support and getting the hood ready to put on.

You sure like this old Malibu. I think it’s because of the swivel bucket seat option the car has. I always thought they were cool. You basically re-bodied this whole car and did a very extensive restoration when you swapped all the body parts from the gold donor car. That was the only way you could bring this car back. I like the way your dye job came out on the interior. Really brought it back from being faded and ragged looking! I still look forward to you getting back in the van again after the Malibu is done! Cheers Lee!

Looks like buckets of work. That radiator could be helpful for something with a manual trans later on. I have seen people use some pretty nifty little butane torches for those solder connections but, who knows what them cost vs the thing paying for itself.

I think the somewhat large gap between the fenders and the doors is just normal because getting that gap perfect on a car that's this old is more trouble than it's worth. You just want peace of mind when opening and closing the doors and have it not catching and getting stuck, or having it grind, especially if you loaded up the car with a lot of weight or heavy pasengers. With nice brand new weather stripping, i like the feeling of just slamming a door without fear.

Hey Lee I was thinking on your last video .your window up down power wire would be key on only and door lock power would be hot with key on or off and they put the two together .Is there a relay for the window power ? or fuse ? May be some thing like that so they jumped the door lock for power ?

Im a huge s10 and s10 blazer guy. So watching some old dealer training videos they talk about the door hinges. When s10 came out in 82 and 83 the hingea were computer welded on at factory ro ensure precice fit and lessen door adjustments having to be made on the line. Thus improving fit amd finish while being more efficient. Im curious to know and i bet the ans is yes if they did that on all later gm models for the door? Was the iroc door hinges welded on?

If those dents in the hood or kind of small like hail damaged dents maybe a little bigger since you're going to repaint the car anyhow you can take a torch and heat those dents up a little and then take some dry ice in a rag and rub it over the dents after you heat it up and they should pop right out
