Amazing how he doesn't stress it's not a numbers matching motor. If it was all original 40 45grand but not the correct motor and no t tops.Goodluck trying to get 30grand.I hate car salesman. They make me puke

@@anthonylaudano9751 We don't claim it to be so anywhere. And actually the second sentence after opening the hood and talking about the motor at 4:52 in the video, Jay says "This is a replacement motor.". Not sure how much more upfront and honest you want?

Certainly the most badass muscle car still coming out at the time, most other muscle cars had been lowered down by emissions by this point. Also yes, I loved that Smokey and the bandit movie which just sealed this car as legendary to me.

Thought the bandit edition had t tops . My 80 bandit edition did ! Of course the performance was lacking with a 301 turbo charged motor .

Very nice indeed Jay. It seems to be well under valued , is that because of the replacement engine ? This won't be around for long . Thanks Jay.

I owned one in 1978. It was slightly used. At the time I thought it was fairly quick. The W72 option (L78 engine 6.6L created 200 horses @ 320 pound-feet in the mid-RPM range but may have actually been closer to 260 horses). Not bad during the EPA heyday of lower horsepower and emissions standards. I drove my TA on a few trips from Dallas to Denver, Nashville, and a few other cities within a 900 mile range. Gas mileage wasn't too bad for the larger displacement engine. Maybe 18 MPG while cruising through Kansas. The only bad thing about the Camaros and Trans Ams in the those years was poor build quality. GM didn't care (much like today) about quality but rather the bottom line. My 1977 TA 'feel apart' and so did my 1978 Z28. T-Tops leaked, door handles fastened with sheet metal screws stripped out, 8-track (yeah I'm old) stopped working in both cars, and other stuff. However, the engines and transmissions held up pretty good. I can see the collector need for this car. The market dictates the price. Better purchase it because in 2030 you you will pay $150,000 for one of these cars. I bet the Volo family will keep getting the classics. Someone enjoy the piece of history.
