Even though this video is 2 years old and the car has already been sold I still enjoy looking at this one. I wish it would have been me with Deep Pockets to own this. Someone out there with plenty of money is the new proud owner of this '77 Trans Am bandit.

I was an eleven-year old boy in 1977, when Smokey and the Bandit came out. My first time watching it, I didn't hear any of the dialogue - I only cared about that car. The owl-headlight design for 1977 and 1978 were, in my not-very-humble opinion, the pinnacle of this platform, and in black with the gold "screaming chicken", it was sex on wheels. This vehicle was beyond cool in the 70's and 80's, and for me, it is tied with the 66 Mustang for "Most Stunning and Timeless Design" winner. Absolutely EPIC!!

That is a beautiful car. I was surprised that it had an LT-1 as opposed to an LS being that it’s a bit of a restomod. If it had a Butler Built poncho and a manual trans, Id be in love with it

Nice but automatic? My brother had the identical car, Hurst shifter and t roof with magnaflow mufflers. It had the original paint on the car and was in exceptional condition. It was appraised in the early 90's at $14,500, it was a great car.

Does it have the Hurst or Fisher T Tops? The Hurst are the smaller of the two. Most people doing a resto of the TransAm want the Fisher.
@darrellkidd51772 жыл бұрын
Those are Hurst tops. You can tell because they are smaller than the Fisher, and therefore the back of the top is not even with the door opening. The Fisher is probably a better top, but they weren't offered on the '77s, so even if you were adding t-tops you would want the Hurst on a '77.

I'm very surprised at the appraisal value of this car. Seems very high. I guess they are really rare. Perhaps because of its iconic nature, also.

Mixed reception on this one Jay . The purists dislike the motor. I 'm sure that engine is a delight but l'm not a lover of this mixture , not with the provenance of the original . As they say "one man's meat...."

I can dig out my sales info and order guides if you would like. That snow flake wheel was introducted in 78 in the wide width along with the WS6 package.

@@stebecinc hey Brainiac, those wheels are new. They are custom made new era wheels that are larger in size but look like the older and original wheels. 😲💥😂
@darrellkidd51772 жыл бұрын
The '77s definitely had snowflake wheels as an option, and I believe they were standard on the SE cars (I know, I have a '77 SE). The snowflake wheels on the '77 were 15x7, but they offered a '15x8 on the '78 and up T/As with the W72 suspension package (you can tell the difference because they have more of a deep-dish look). However, what you said is true, you couldn't get the wheels on this car on any factory T/A, as these wheels are aftermarket wheels that are probably 17x9 or so.
@DavidSmith-ht1ye3 жыл бұрын
This car is AWESOME!!!!!! You said it has an LT-1 motor!!!!! I really enjoyed your video!!!!! Do all the Special Edition T/A's have the LT-1 motor???? How many of the 1977 Pontiac T/A 's where Special Editions T/A's??? Do any of the Special Editions have the W-72 motor???? The W-72 is the 400 CID or 6.6 Liter with a 4 speed manual trans behind it!!!!! I heard that Pontiac made 6077 W-72 in 1977, but I do not know if any went in the Special Editions!!!!! Please let me know!!!!!!

Thanks David for watching. I'll see if I can't get an answer for you on these questions.
@patsfan80573 жыл бұрын
Beautiful car. But you would think that with all the "no expense spared" vibe, you'd have an actual Pontiac 6.6 under the hood? And while LS/LT motors perform great, for that kind of money, you would have no trouble getting a Pontiac mill to produce just as much power. Not everything needs a LS/LT motor dropped between the frame rails.

No, it wasn't a body-off restoration. These are and always were unibody cars. I will concede GM cars usually had a removable front subframe. F-body and X,-body GM cars did not have a full perimeter frame.
