John Guerins performances with Michael Franks were simply subtle madness! You can't hear him but you can. Weird right? The man can disappear in the background and reemerge when you brains adjust to him. Greatness personified. RIP John!

It's amazing in these days where you can find unbelievable music and vids everywhere by everybody, how little footage there is of the late, great John Guerin. Thank you so much for this, Pro Drum Shop.

There never has been a better drum shop. I always stop by when in town. And they still know me, which makes me feel really good. This video took me back to the days when legendary drummers put on clinics for free. Drumming giants like Roy Burns, Louis Bellson, and many others were happy to talk to us amateurs, give advice, sign autographs, and just freaking DAZZLE and INSPIRE us with superhuman skill. I miss those days. My drum teacher's picture is still on the wall by the back door : ) The heroes are gone, but Stan Keyawa and the Hollywood Pro Drum Shop are still here, keeping the connection to our past alive. Thank you for keeping everything going and in a preserved state, Stan. It means the world to many of us. And keep these KZbin videos coming, they are awesome! See you soon.

John Guerin was so admired by Carlos Vega. Lots of new drumming coming up in this era. Fusion, Latin and jazz combining for a whole new world of music.Did John play an album with Chuck Mangione? I remember seeing his name. Russell Ferrante, Robben Ford! Just before the Yellow Jackets? Man, this a fantastic look at early pioneering work that has gone on for entire careers.

The legendary Yellowkackets were actually formed in the 1979 Robben Ford solo album. Then 2 years later they signed with Warner and the rest is history...

Jeff Porcaro really liked John's playing as well.

Nice to hear this after so many years. I was there and my friend made a bootleg that may no longer exist. I remember it was Autumn of 77 and most of the drummers from our high school band went to hear these new Syndrums. I remember hearing John Guerin play and I was changed forever. That was also the first time I saw Robben and Russell play live. There were door prizes and the big one was a huge clear acrylic drum set. You were given a raffle ticket when you went through the door and right as my friend Steve Marshall was about to get his ticket some guy cut in front of him and took that ticket...which was the winning number. The tickets were deposited in a kick drum that can be seen at the 37 minute mark.
