Stan, Jerry and the staff are the best. Their service, knowledge and inventory are unmatched by the chain stores. I drive over 80 miles round trip to shop at Pro Drum Shop. I could have my purchases shipped but would miss the friendly conversation and new product arrivals. Do your self a favor and visit the shop when you are in LA.

I’ve Been coming to professional Drum shop since 1965 when Bob Yeager and Chuck Molinari ran the place I was 14 years old I’m 73 now and I still come to Pro Drum. Love Stan and Jerry and Tommy!!! love Pro Drum I miss Bob Yeager and Chuck professional Drum shop should be awarded California historical landmark status, it’s been in business since 1959 when Bob opened it and it’s still going strong God bless Pro Drum from Neal Sausen and AKRON, Ohio! by the way, their Christmas parties are legendary legendary. Every top name in the PERCUSSION business would show up at the Christmas parties that Bob and Chuck inaugurated and Stan and Jerri are keeping the tradition alive just sayin!

Dear Stan and Jerry, I miss you guys a bunch!! I can't remember how many times I've went to your store mainly to hang out. Some times I'd buy stuff, or have a drum reheaded. Then there was that one project you guys did for me. Turned a tama tom into a snare. Thanks again. I remember the first time I walked through the door. Stan was behind the counter on the fone, tuning a drum, and eating a sandwich all simultaneously. Lol!! Great times.

What a great shop, with great repairs & awesome history! I lived and played in L.A. from 1972 to 1989. Stan did the repairs back then and helped me out many times. I also loved the junk bin where they put all of the parts.

As an aspiring drumner while in highschool, i had the privilege of being a customer. Me Bob Yeager would call my friend and I "young bloods". We actually helped straighten some hardware bins and other areas. Occasionally Bob would ask us to help a customer find a piece if hardware since we had "organized" the bins and were familiar where some odd or loose items were. Stan was always friendly and tolerated us. Bob was a gem. Bought my first Sonie set from bob. Sonor made 100 of these conmemorating their 100 years in business. Bob was always kind and encouraging. Muss Miss those days. Joseph

They use to have a drum set on a riser just above the front door of the Shop on the outside. That was really cool! I still have the Gretsch set 24 inch bass drum I bought there in 1998! Best Drum Shop ever!

Stan you're a born natural in front of that camera. I can't believe you ad libbed this without a script, makeup or a stunt double. We've written the next show already... a thriller. Intrigue, chase scenes and a deadly love triangle. You'll love it! Just landed Scarlett Johansson. BTW I need soft cases. See ya soon.

Like a shrine.Great story from your "hood". Years ago there was a Standard Brands paint store across the street from you pretty much next to the Musicians Union. On a hot Sunday day I'm loading my paint when I hear what sounds like the worlds largest juke box -- really loud wailing Big Band music is blasting out of an open door-- so I move closer and all these little street urchin kids mostly Hispanic but some White and Asian kids from the neighborhood are crowding around the open door and are really digging the big band. Jumping around, jitterbugging and just gyrating to the world class huge big band music being played by top notch Union musicians. Wish I'd had a camera -- talk about music bringing folks/types together...what a cool memory.

That's a nice store. I worked at a big Box not worth mentioning too late to 82 take it back but I did work at Fred Pierce studio drum shop. Drum headquarters was a great store but closed as I started atStudio drum shop. And let me tell you the owner didn't dance and dodancing dua celebratory celebratory jig when the store closed from headquarters that is. He was actually pretty bummed out that the economy andBreaking mortar are tanking. But just wanted to say this was a nice virtual tourRemind me of all 3 stores stores that I've lived by. And I worked at 2 of them

I heard a different story about Buddy Rich’s kit. I heard it went to Armand Zildjian. It’s in one of their KZbin videos. Says he asked him to take care of em when he was on his death bed.

By the way, buddy rich was NOT The last person to play that kit….I WAS! It happened like this a day or two before a milestone anniversary for Pro Drum was celebrated at the Hollywood Palladium. Stan gave me this drum set to take home to my house in Van Nuys to clean and polish it so it would look nice for the ceremony I think it was for the 50th or 60th ceremony or something like that,.. anyway I took that buddy rich set home, and I duly cleaned and polished the kit until it was gleaming. Then I thought myself “this is the last set that buddy rich played”?!… anyway long story short I said to myself HMM…. I’m gonna set this drum set up in my drum room and play it myself for a couple of hours which I did! I have photos and everything after a couple of hours I took the set apart did some final touchup work on the chrome, and I polished it up real nice……real nice… next day took the drums over to the Hollywood Palladium Hollywood Palace whatever they call it now set the drums up and they were on display for the entire anniversary celebration therefore, I am technically the last person to play that buddy rich set!!! that Slingerland drum set that was the last set buddy played on and I was the last person after him since the drum set went on display at Pro Drum permanently after buddy played it anyway…. a little bit of knowledge that a nobody like me has some connection to buddy. Also, I have buddy’s slippers that that my teacher FRED GRUBER gave me.
