You need to get this game. Remaster it. Post it on your page in better quality. If you find the original broadcast with original commercials that would be great

If the mid-late 70’s Rams had had anything resembling a balanced and effective passing game to complement their running, they too would have joined Dallas as the only other NFC team to win a Super Bowl during the decade. As it was, they sort of snuck up on the league in 1979 and gave the Steelers all they wanted until quite late in the 4th quarter.

Vince Ferragamo was a rookie in '77. He clearly had more potential than Haden, and spent way too much time on the bench his first two seasons. If Haden hadn't gotten injured, Ferragamo would likely have spent all of '79 on the bench as well. He was as under-utilized as Haden was over-utilized.

Just Fanning sacking Snake, he would finish his career with the Seahawks in 84 I think, but he would get 7.5 sacks that year, not too bad for a guy in his later career at all. Look at all those great players on that field. I'm old obviously, grew up in the 70s, football was a very different game then. Thanks for posting this and please Keep' em coming. Thanks. I very much enjoyed watching this again. Those teams were pretty equally matched. That's also the last time I can remember it being cold in LA

As a fan of the Rams, I remember how important this game was to me at the time. This win was huge! Also, some of the greatest names to ever play for both teams were on that field that day. And you know what else? There wasn't one egotistical showboating celebration or political statement of any kind by anyone for the entire game...I miss real football so much...

IMO this was the best Rams secondary ever. Pat Thomas Monte Jackson and Rod Perry at the corners and Bill Simpson Dave Elmendorf and Nolan Cromwell at Safeties.

The Rams D-line was one the few that could actually put pressure on Snake.

This was also the 5th consecutive season that the raiders went to the AFC championship game. A record that stood for decades until it was broken by tom Brady and the patriots.

you're basing your list on super bowl wins . but if you look at it from the context of just reg season wins , the L.A Rams were better than everyone on this list except the Raiders.

The last game as a Raider for Oakland safety George Atkinson. The Rams wiped him out on a sweep, heavily damaging one of his legs.
@balrog322 Жыл бұрын
I was in attendance for this one. I remember that Atkinson was injured and never played again, but didn’t recall it occurred on the Rams second play from scrimmage. The Raiders moved Skip Thomas to strong safety and Lester Hayes took Thomas’ left corner spot, subsequently yielding the winning touchdown on a fourth quarter 43-yard bomb to Harold Jackson.

@@balrog322 Glad you got to see this matchup in person. Two great teams. These two would have made Super Bowl 11 a much better contest the previous season than having the Vikings in there, I think.
@balrog322 Жыл бұрын
@@scottmitchell3641 Concur. Not to knock the Vikings, but I think LA, or Dallas, would have been a more competitive SB. (Also happen to think the ‘77 Raiders would have been a better SB XII opponent than Denver vs. Dallas.) But ‘76 was the Raiders’ year.

@@osaji922 going into that Super Bowl that you're referencing, the Los Angeles Rams had an all-time dominating record against the Steelers of 12-1-1..as a matter of fact, the Rams had 3 chances to blow the doors open in that game, but blew it. the Rams O line dominated the famed Steel Curtain . Mean Joe Green and co. were neutralized in that game. the only pressure they got on VF was because of all the blitz packages they threw at him.
