I remember these old days as a teenager and back in the 70's Oakland was not just known as a good team, but also dirty and punishing to play against, and win or lose, you were going to enjoy a "Real" Football game with hard hitting and a nail biting ending. Stabler was great and Plunket was a great QB too. The Oakland Raiders were like the Cleveland Browns at the time and always discounted in a NFL West/NFL East context. Everyone enjoys seeing an "Underdog" win and of course John Maden went on to become the best NFL Commentator ever and his legacy carried over into the video game world. The days of hard hitting that knocks a players helmet off are long gone and I quit watching the NFL after the Micheal Vick incident happened and the way the NFL Commissioner handled that. Good old days of real football.

That victory against pittsburgh in pitt was by Maddens best victory ever as both teams were healthy as opppsed to the afc title game!!!

As good as the Raiders were their record in AFL/AFC championship games from 1968 77 was 1-7. With some gut wrenching losses at home and on the road not to mention the 72 divisional round loss to the Steelers on the Immaculate Reception .

@alienwierd ... This was when players smoked, coaches smoked on the sidelines and beer was in the locker rooms. Go watch early highlights of Madded, he's on film smoking during the game. That's how the league was then. Jack Tatum used to smoke in the shower after games.
