My favorite cadillac of all time.

Beautiful, these Sevilles were some of my favorite Cadillacs ever made. Amazing how they came out swinging in the mid 70s when American automakers were struggling to stay viable with the gas crunch and most fell on their face. Cadillac nailed it with the 1st gen Seville, looks great in black. And this has to be the first digital speedometer.

I owned one just like this in navy blue. She was my first car. I was 24 years old. Loved that car! I still miss the auto-dim to high beam on the head lights. Handled like a dream. My favorite ride was driving up the winding Logan Canyon in Cache Valley Utah. Who ever gets this beauty...Enjoy!

This is my dream cadillac. The coolest feature by far is the digital instrumentation. This is actually the first american car to have digital readouts. Aston martin laganda was the first foreign car with digital dadh in 1976. The 1981imperial was the first with the complete digital panel.

Gorgeous car, from any angle. Still have mine, and she is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever owned, but the absolute most troublesome, and pain in the ass to work on. Brittle wiring, and door panels that rattle loose, with every door close. I chased down so many fuel injection faults, I was pulling my hair out. Fuel injection system had two modes. Run perfect, or not at all. I always carried a spare computer with me. Got so frustrated, I swapped out the intake, and threw a carb on it. At least then it was beautiful, and reliable.

Sad that Cadillac discontinued that body style, What were they thinking? They should have kept it going for 10 years at least , just like Mercedes Benz had the w107 body style from 1972 to 1989

About the same size as a 78 Caprice. I have a white opera with white vinyl roof and black leather interior and new wire wheels. In 2000 I pulled the Olds engine and tranny and ended up with a fresh Cadillac 500 inch rebuilt r/v cammed, early swirl heads and modified intake, balanced engine and a 2004r tranny. 2000 rpm is 80 mph by Garmin measurement. I get 19.5 mph at 80 on a hot day with the a/c which I converted to difluoroethane gas. You can hang meat in there. Much better than r-12. Yes, the car is faster than any Mercedes of the same vintage as they quit at 125. I climb the Continental Divide locked up in 4th. It's more like a diesel minus the noise. Snuggled into the leather with the tilt-telescoping steering wheel with the cruise control, air and Wagner playing on the multi speaker stereo what else could a person ask for?

I never understood why they put the antenna on the left side than the right like the other Cadillac models, also I wasn't aware that they made these with digital speedometer.

Where did you get that Kenwood deck from?! That's the exact unit I installed in my 1978 Ford Granada back in 1982! For such a basic unit it put out some beautiful sound.

I don't know much about cars all I know is I want one like this! Is this a gas engine? Anyone know on average how many miles this car lasts, or if this Seville has good reliable engine or not?

I remember this car as a toddler when it was then only 4 years old. Total lemon and I even knew that then. Most malaise era GMs and Fords were absolute throw-aways if I'm honest. Dressed up, smooth riding turds that would rust out, fall apart and implode before they could ever hit tripple digits. Hell most of them didn't even have odometers that went that high.

Evan J Wrong. This was/is a fine car, with the usual reliability quirks of the era associated with the electronic fuel injection. Outside of that, it’s as mechanically solid as any 350 V8 powered GM car of the time, which is to say, it is solid. This one is still around!

It's a 4 door Cutlass drive train and chassis.
@mr.butterworth
@mr.butterworth 4 жыл бұрын
You’re all wrong. The Seville was neither a Nova, Caprice, or a Cutlass. It did share part of the floor pan, a roof stamping, and certain suspension pieces with the X-body Nova, but that’s basically all. And only the drivetrain came from Oldsmobile. This was years before blatant badge engineering. The chassis was stretched and modified to the extent that it earned its own K-body designation. All the engineering modifications in terms of ride and frame isolation, resulted in a car far more refined than an X-body Chevy. The Seville was definitely it’s own car.
