Like most everyone, I'm a 70-73 guy. However the 78 and up 2nd Gens are pretty cool too. This is s nice paint scheme.

Had a '78 white with side pipes. Red interior. Year after selling it. I met the gal who had bought and since sold it. We both wished we had kept as it was destined to become a classic. Starting to look for a 78 and my other street rod a 65 Nova...

Kudo's to the exhaust shop. Perfect exhaust note IMO Back when brand new, I was new car prep at local Chevy dealer in 1977-79 When brand new, exhaust wasn't much quieter than this.

I was a Chevy new car prep/mechanic from 77-80, I got to drive these plus whatever else was new back then. Not a monster muscle car (as was my old school ones were) but it was a pretty cool car, handled well and as a manual hooked to a 350..... not terrible. The build quality was pretty erratic back then.

I remember you could pick cars like this up for just a couple thousand bucks back in the day in front yards everywhere. Wish i had bought a few.

I've really got to hand it to Volo they seem to buy a lot of cars more than I see that get sold but nevertheless if I had the money I would buy this I would love to have it and I would put it in a climate controlled garage

had one... ordered new in Jan. '78 , delivered to dealer in May '78 ... black Z-28 , 4-speed , with positraction , 350 engine ( 170 hp ) ... $5,883 stock price but with options it topped out at just under $10K ... nice car but a bit emasculated with only the 170 hp and getting 15 mpg ( my 2018 VW Golf TSI has a 4-cylinder fwd engine of 170 hp and flys still getting over 40 mpg on long drives and is a better car) !!!

Btw, those are not 78 taillights. Those are from an 80-81. 1978-79 didn't have the horizontal black stripe throughout the taillights.
@Primus5411 ай бұрын
Do a Google search on 1978 rear end images… that black stripe exists on every photo I saw.

As far as I know all the 350ci 4spd cars of this body style were produced in Canada and for the Canadian market by Chevrolet . I've always heard that this vintage Camaro was one available stateside with 4spd and the 305 or the 350 with the automatic transmission If this is accurate info maybe that is the explanation for the taillights . Every 350 4sp car I've ever seen in person or magazines was built in Canada .

@TheDRUM2112 go check out the dealership brochures. You'll be proven wrong. 78-79 Z/28: no horizontal line on taillights. 78 Type LT 79 Berlinetta yes, there is a horizontal black line on the taillights

185 horsepower. Quarter mile 17.5 seconds on a good day The malaise era
@jeffreyb616511 ай бұрын
Yes they weren't much on horsepower, but mine from the factory did better than a 17.5

I was in my mid-20s during this era. Yes… not much in horsepower, but still peppier than “non-performance” vehicles of the time.

Great looking, but embarrassing when a Toyota Prius can blow your doors off!
@JohnDoe-wy2py11 ай бұрын
@@JKerr-iy2jr 2023 Toyota Prius Limited has a quarter mile time of 15.3 seconds. Even the lowly 1978 Mustang II had a reported quarter mile time of 17.1 seconds. I’m sure the Z/28 could beat a Yugo in the quarter mile.

Superb beautiful Z28. Does the driver come with the car ? Woof 😜
@alfredvinchagurara205411 ай бұрын
The 78 and 79 Z28 absolutely did NOT have the black stripe through the tail lights. 80 and 81 did. Look at the previous 78 that was sold at Volo cars.
