I had a brand new Black 1979 620 that I had bought right after I had graduated high school.had it all customized for off roading and that little truck took me places that even had some of my 4x4 buddys in amazement lol.one tough truck and it took a 30 ton EARTH moving pan to demolish it by the idiot running it

I quite agree. With gas prices going in the direction of five dollars a gallon we DO need these little trucks again. And I never did like these ugly four door station wagon trucks that are currently out on the market today.

Hmmm,,,Somethin not quite right about this one,,,1974 to 1978 Datsun 620 Pickup, J15 Pushrod engine, No Brake booster, Drum Brakes,The engine in this one is a 2 litre Overhead Cam, NOT original motor, and the compliance plates were riveted not screwed on,And this is NOT an original Compliance plate, Probably a fake screen printed repop to fool the DMV so they could register it, I think we have here a Datsun 200B motor stuffed into a 620 pick up that has been resprayed, Also, 620's never came out with plastic tank radiators, And either the previous owner wore carpet on his feet when driving it or the floor mats have been replaced, and the "Barn" would have to of been the cleanest driest barn in history as these little rigs had issues with bubbling rust, 50,000 miles original?,well im sceptical as the little screw on the back of the odometer to reset the miles is easy to get to, Sweet little truck non the less,,, but NOT original,,,

See Mr Datrod's and my comment below. 2 litre OHC aluminum head/ cast iron block is what US spec Datsun PL620 pickups had. I had one, 1975 model. I had it summer 1983-bought in Albuquerque --to 1995. Do agree that the truck and mats look way too clean and shiny and totally unnafected by any dampness to have been a barn (or garage) find in any real barn. It does have a 'like new from 1978' look, including stock narrow wheels/ tires. Mine and most i saw had aluminum 'mag' wheels with wider tires or other aftermarket wider wheels and tires. My 1975 did have the basic brake master cylinder, and 4wheel drum brakes; both and the 2liter engine shown in the driver's manual that the truck still had.

The plastic you saw and thought was the radiator isn't: it's a plastic cowling the Datsun pickups attached on the back of the standard brass /metal radiator. The plastic cowling helped direct the fan air onto the engine, for better cooling.

I work at the dealer and had two. The first was blown head gasket and payed $100. Second came from wife’s family member who stuffed on long distant phone calls so it would not run right, he gave it to me. I made it into a matching trailer, painted same blue. The left front device on the inner fender with the two large hoses, is the “Boost control deceleration device”. It uses high Venturi vacuum to open and let air cleaner air drop into the intake to increase MPG’s but eliminates backfires. So no raw fuel and air in the exhaust to cause backfire. These are adjustable and if not cleaned, stick open causing a lean misfire. Got photos of mine in mint condition. Had 76 280Z 301 copper metallic, brown 510 wagon, green 510 sedan, my wife’s favorite, blue 210 hatchback. Still own a 1969 1600 Roadster Convertible with full frame, front disc and factory roll-bar in maroon metallic. Love these.

L 620 B engine. I use to own one. Yes, they are super nice, tough durable trucks for the southern half of the country whare there is no ice and snow. In the northern part of the country, they would fall apart after two years after the purchase of them because of the ice and snow, and the road salt used on the roads.

4E047RHH Dude you need to do some homework. The 620 NEVER came with a J15. And that is an original plate under the hood. Just been screwed into the fender well. The rivets more than likely came loose. And that is not a plastic radiator. Datsun never made a 200B motor.

Not sure about USA but in some markets the 620 was fitted with the J15 and never used the L engines.

Mr Datrod, I agree. I had a US spec, PL620 1975 pickup: (1983-1995): 2litre OHC aluminum head, cast iron block. And the owner's manual said/showed that too. So, for American market you are correct and the "4EO..." judger is wrong for USA. Agree w both of you that id plate was riveted when made. My Datsun truck was wonderful: Purschased summer 1983 Albuquerque when my '72 Datsun 510 (OHC 1600cc)--favorite car; rusted too much/ shearing off a suspension mount. Drove the pickup when i lived and worked as a school librarian on the Navajo res. No rust then. Had an excellent camper top w a roof vent, panelling... When i moved back east, despite trying to keep rust away, the rust worm began to get it. 1993or 94 I didn't want to let the truck go and rebuilt the fenders and cab floor in aluminum from recycled gutters...

@@carlcushmanhybels8159 best thing you can do for them when you move back whare ice and snow and road salts take an adverse effect on them is paint the underside chassis and frame with black rust Olem paint and take tte fenders off and paint the underside of them to along with the bed, take it off, flip it upside down and paint the bed upside down with that black paint. It will last you much longer.
