Him and his friends swapped out the motor on the weekend. I was mad because I could not see over the fender! Thus started me on my journey with cars. My dad was selling Fords in Willmar in 1962 and he had that exact same car in Chestnut Brown for one summer as his "Demonstrator". We drove it to Canada for our only full family vacation, pulling a travel trailer (Shasta - don't know how all 9 of us fit into that, maybe we also brought a tent). I think it was legal in Canada back then to have passengers in a trailer, and I recall riding for a bit. I got a little carsick. We went to Thunder Bay, but back then it was called Fort William & Port Arthur. Later we moved to California and he bought a 63 in red with a 352 I & then traded that for a 65 with a 390 in turquoise, both were 4 door hardtops I think. The center of those 62 tail lights always looked like communion cups to me. Thanks for this video

If you’re still running the gas that was in the tank, you might be bending pushrods because of that. I know it’s a newer gas tank, but modern gas sucks, and if it’s been in there a while it likes to get sticky. I’ve seen it happen on two other car KZbin channels where the car keeps bending pushrods and it turned out to be that weirdly sticky gas. It coats and binds up the valves, valve can’t open, pushrod gets bent. Best of luck, your videos are incredible!
@Bannimann214 күн бұрын
Dude, he actually run it dry in the first test drive, so no not the old gas.
@animaniacs321314 күн бұрын
Adding new gas can reactivate the old sticky gas, it turns into a dust that gets rehydrated after adding gas
@greencadillacmatt13 күн бұрын
^Exactly what I was going to say. I know he ran it dry, but if there was any nastiness in the bottom of the tank then it went through the engine. The tank walls could be coated in it and the fresh gas acts as a carrier for the gunk it washes off. The lifter didn’t seem to be the issue, so that’s the only theory I’ve got. :P

Damn, this video was a wild ride. Having this few complications on a revival, all solved with somewhat easy fixes. The brakes taking fluid and giving preassure first try, the innards of the gastank being in ok condition and not clogging the carburator, the backfire that turned into flames, and last but not least my favourite: the compression-tester needing a couple of taps to work correctly, saving you alot of hassle. You hade me guessing at every turn thinking this car was gonna need ALOT more work. Great video, Fordman!

Echt cool was du so alles drauf hast. Respekt.

My first car was a 1964 Galaxie 500 4 door. 289 with 3 on the tree. I was 16 and I loved that car.

Good to see the 'ole girl back on the road. I had a black with the same red interior as yours in 1971. She had a 406CID engine with a 650cfm Holley, ran beautiful but only got about 7 miles to the gallon, good thing I worked at a Shamrock station. Finally lost her when she got broadsided in an intersection when another car lost brakes at 45 mph. Minimal injuries to passengers but insurance totaled her and that was it. Hope you have better run with yours.

I love your videos. The skateboard made me smile. I'm curious why you don't take a leaf blower along and stop by a car wash on your way home with your "treasures". 🙂😺

Jeszcze nie obejrzałem do końca ale myśłałem że restaurując tak stary samochód wymontujesz wszystkie podzespoły. Każdy osobno rozmontujesz, przejrzysz, wyczyścisz i naprawisz. Dokonasz Sprawdzenia ramy i karoserii pod kątem rdzy, pęknięć. Pomalujesz i zakonserwujesz. Do tak przygotowanej skorupy wmontujesz to co wcześniej wymontowałeś tak żeby auto wyglądało jak w dniu kiedy opuszczało fabrykę. I haven't looked at it all the way through yet, but I thought that when restoring such an old car, you would remove all the components. You would disassemble each one separately, inspect, clean and repair. You would check the frame and body for rust and cracks. You would paint and preserve. You would fit what you had previously removed into the shell prepared in this way, so that the car would look like the day it left the factory.

This has been my new favorite channel. I’ve been resisting the urge to binge watch all your videos because I wanna be able to enjoy them for longer lol. Well done.

Why have I not come across this channel earlier? I'm so tired of channels where people make complete idiots of themselves in a "will it run" for views, like the one with the gripping tool. This is an amazing amount of camera and editing work. How?
