the hood vent makes it look like crap to me but im a OEM kinda guy i have a 65 F350 crew cab long box converted to 4x4 from parts off a 68 f350 built for the railrode but droped in a 83 6.9 with a 4 speed i only use it for camping and shows but i think the stock look is the best look

David Vermillion the 6.5L optimizer & 6.2L 4 stroke Detroit Diesel have a 21.5:1 compression the 6.5L GEP Detroit Diesel (Marine) has 18:1... This is a 6v53 it's a 2 stroke diesel, there are 7 versions of 53 series 2 strokes the 353 (inline 3) only comes natural aspirated... The 453 (inline 4), 6v35 (v6) and 8v53 (v8) have both a naturally aspiration (stock) and turbo version (stock). Example 6v53n would be a stock natural aspiration and a 6v53t would be stock Turbo charged. The stock turbo charged versions only had 18 or 19:1 compression, where as the stock Natural aspirated versions had 21 to 23:1 compression... You can still stick a Turbo charger on a Natural aspiration engine but you need to be running top of the line head studs and preferable main studs as well. Tourqe to Yield bolts will not hold up and thats when your head gaskets go BOOM! Before turbo chargers all old school Diesels had 20:1 to 25:1 compression. Once they started putting Turbochargers on Diesels the Compression range dropped from the low 20s to 16:1 to 20:1.

They can't go in NEW vehicles, but an older vehicle only has to meet emissions for the year it was built. (In PA, there are NO diesel emissions.)

Ford had put old detroit 2 Stroke diesels in there 250's. Were great and reliable and very rare now. now uncommon to see them with a upgraded detroit 4 cylinder or 8 cyl. Was the old 4-53 i think in the 60's or 70's trucks.
