Rip olsen and enberg and my childhood. Loved the late 70s bradshaw and steelers on nbc. Gumbel highlights too.

Legends of the Game! Quite interesting to see games played from the golden age of professional football also the broadcasting crew. You can see how good they were.

Seeing Rocky Bleier take over a game makes me miss those simple days. Sunday after midget football games watching the second half of games the Steelers seemed out of then watching them tough it out and win like that. I got spoiled. Dag nabbit! 😬🏈

The St Louis Cardinals, had some very good teams in the mid 70's.... Unfortunately for them ,they were in one of the toughest divisions to play in.... Even in the middle 80's it was the same way... Between Dallas ,and Washington,in the 70's ... Then Dallas , Washington, Eagles, Giants ,all with HOF defenses in the 80's .... The Cardinals did put together a solid team that would have been in playoff contention in any other division, but the power east... I don't know at any time in NFL were there was a dominant division... Washington was winning Championships , Dallas was making it to the NFC championship... Bill Parcels lead the Giants to 2 SB wins , the Eagles had one of greatest defensive lines , were a playoff threat every year....

Pittsburgh could spot any team six turnovers and still win, the cowboys were the same way. These two teams just dominated the league like no teams before or since. And I'm a Viking fan.

Bud Wilkenson came out of a long retirement to coach the Cards. He still had a good eye for talent, he drafted O.J.Anderson however he worked for a very difficult owner and his tenure as coach of the Cards was short lived.

If you knew anything about the St. Louis Cardinals you would know The coaches had no say so in the draft. Bud probably knew nothing about OJ was a terrible coach and an awful hire.

The Steelers had a league high 52 turnovers in 79’ and still won the super bowl! If the Steelers were a little more focused, might have been undefeated!

@@keithclark7266 I know it's been two years, but I have to tell you - forget the Eagles. They tanked after the ’81 season. And St Louis swept them in 83.

Either the Cardinals had a great day getting through that O-line or that O-line had a very very bad day. Lots of runs stopped in the backfield... sacks... fumbles.. wtf was going on? LoL
@Thatmaninrio Жыл бұрын
The Cardinals obviously didn't have the talent & depth of the Steelers, but contrary to the "Classic Sports" opening blunder, still had a few good players, besides Jim Hart.. Dan Dierdorf, Tom Banks, Roger Wherli & Mel Gray were all-pro, Ottis Anderson would be the Offensive Rookie of the year, (Ran for over 200 yds in game against the Cowboys) .

3 missed PATs and 1 missed field goal?? Cards lost by 3. That kicker had to have been cut after the game

You would think … but they kept Steve Little for 19 more games.

The Steelers constantly would look dead in the water and find ways to pull it out. Roethlisberger and his Steelers did that quite often on 2008.

Dang, the Cardinals kicker was 10 steps beyond awful!!!

Steelers were just so sloppy with turnovers that season and STILL were able with their talent make to a Super Bowl and win it. After that, the talent retired and got old. Bradshaw got hurt and even Chuck Noll said that was the Steelers last shot.

I remember listening to this game on the radio and wondering WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON THE FIRST 2.5 QUARTERS !! The Steelers COULDN'T GET ANYTHING RIGHT but then Bradshaw came back and Bleier got rolling and that was IT for the Cardinals chances of winning ! The Steelers just had SO MUCH DEPTH back then - no other team would have come back to win that game under the SAME CIRCUMSTANCES - THAT'S FOR SURE !!
