Again, you've made well-balanced decisions re: driver quality, with intelligent execution and attention to details. Not everything has to have a five figure paint job or a concours restoration. Dinged paint? still love it.

Before your time LOL. In 1967 I and a coworker visited a chey dealer and we were sitting in a 68 vette in the work area and a saleman went by and told us to stert 'er up. WOW, awesome. .I was 22. Far out of our reach then.

Excellent videos to learn the intricacies of working on the vettes. Just bought my first one and I just turned 62. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. It all started with your videos. It's a 79 C3, 4 speed. Haven't put it on the road yet. Detailing some things and just did the brakes. Keep the videos coming. They are an excellent source for us new vette owners.

Hello from Norway! It has taken me 1,5 months to see all your videos and i enjoyed them all. Keep them coming. My favorite Corvette must be the C3. Thx for making videos about fixing them and keep them on the road.

I bought replacement taillight lenses for my 79 K10 pickup and the difference was AMAZING. Just like your vette here the truck taillights were cracked and heavily oxidized, chalky and the backup lenses were yellowed. I'm glad that so many new parts are being produced for older cars.

Thanks for sharing the details!! I bought a 78 Corvette with full cage , pro stock dash, 400 turbo manual value body, 496ci Hooker header side pipes, well a drag car 22.5 to 1 compression. I needed to get horn working...ha ha ha. Yes using it to go to Kroger. That's about as far as I can go with the fuel cell and the $10 gallon racing fuel. But everything new everything new even body bushings and dual stage3 NOS. But I need that horn Super Thank You! Wheelie bars and handicap tag and I'm ready to go to town! Your videos GREAT!

Ben do you have any videos or are you going to make a video on a Corvette with the ignition Rod that runs down the steering column and as you turn the key pushes the rod and starts the vehicle I think mine is a bit loose needs to be adjusted the rod but I can't find any videos on it on how to do it. I have an 81 Corvette let me know if you have anything you could share or where I could find something to let me know how to do it.. thank you.

Hi there Ben I’m a big fan of your videos. I own a 1975 Stingray that needs front and rear bumper skins. What is your opinion on original plastic vs fibreglass ones. I’m doing a restomod on my C3 and I’m trying to figure out what to do in that department. I’ve also found a Crome bumper style aftermarket rear end that caught my attention as well. Let me know your thoughts on this I’d really appreciate your opinion. Keep up the good work.

@pontiacgrandprix7336 жыл бұрын
Cory King yes u can, u can do anything, crate motor, LS motor, is it worth it, plus the vehicle is no longer original, value suffers, so if u wanna do that, get a basket case, or at least one w a bad motor, same thing like a 78 Camaro, or even a 400 Trans Am, even the 400, dead
@chief_philly87086 жыл бұрын
Pontiac GrandPrix73 yea I was thinkin about buyin a c3 for my first car but he's sellin it for 3,000$, so I figured it was probably fucked up and it might be easier to put a camaro engine in it than fix it

Hey Ben, i own a 76 vette with an 80 interior for the most part, ofc had to keep some parts 76 , just dyed but looks nice, my question is my rear interior quarter panel trim by the doors. I believe it had originally a plastic or nylon type nut/fastener that was glued and with a screw connected both trim pieces. Any experience with this? I believe Corvette America sells fasteners but if I can get away without glueing or a better system for keeping both pieces connected I'd be much appreciated, thanks in advance

im referring to a small plastic/rubber nut that i believe is glued in and where a screw then gets mounted to hold the metal strip that rides up to connect the pieces

@HorsepowerGarageVideos6 жыл бұрын
Why? An auto is better for drag racing
@kavinskysmith40946 жыл бұрын
its not the auto that's the problem, as the auto can be tuned by literally changing the magnets on it, on I think on the clutch or something like that, and they used to prefer to use TH350's for stuntwork in hollywood as they could hold up to the bashing quite well over the 700R4s that came out latter, IE reverse one 180's and the like without it breaking, IE the 4 speed autos that replaced it its the engine that's the issue. as the engine however, your better off hoisting it off to the junkyard and putting a latter C4, LS or an LT1 engine in it from the early 90s if its got a 350 in it in general if you want to make power with it, as Chevy really cheapened out on the quality of the engine with two main points in the 70's, Heads and connecting rods, and alot need to be gone over and redone with new heads and better connecting rods as a starting point before you can make real power with it, IE over 250 HP, most this had stock was maybe 185, 190 with the power loss to the rear wheels hence the chevy 383 stroker kits that featured new heads, bored out cylinders and new connecting rods as a starting point to make the best of what they had. the end result being, well this lol kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKu2hXeLhNqNg7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKayiJhoe7Gpo7c and a very popular thing to put in over foreign engines like this, one miura even has one of these, where the actual motor ended up in one of the OTHER miuras after its engine broke after going over a speed bump, and or getting sabotaged kzbin.info/www/bejne/qarPqYuAitKnppI as I found the doner car on a miura resto site So outside of two engines, the LT1, and the L82, which is coming up next is what you do with them, as that plus extra bracing on the chassis to make it handle better and give the front more traction, like a monte carlo bar over the front strut tower would greatly improve the enjoyability of the car. given how much cowl shake these have, and a failure point over many many years of wear and abuse of the cars frame is just where the engine mounts are and around the back where that rear sway bar is found one that had the front collapse on it from that after that, and two that were in the process of doing so, thankfully they got saved in time 2 68's, both in frame off's and the one that collapsed was a 79' from of all things going over a speed bump, car was a resto job apparently and might have had prior accident damage, entire thing was a write off and it all stemmed from the X brace, weilded to the bottom of the frame between the front and the rear that they deleted off of the C1 to save weight when they went over to the C2, as all the C3 is, is just a rebodied and reworked C2 with a Pontiac Banshee/Mako Shark body on it and you literally just have two Bow Legged frame rails with an engine and a rear suspension on it, so the more bracing you can put on it, takes pressure off the body, and makes it handle better hence why when they redid the whole thing in 84, it was a huge departure and focused on redoing all those points on it. from more precise steering to better handling with the new rears, although they deleted the shock absorbers in the front for leaf springs, horizontal though from front to back, a really strange choice to say the least

Hi....just wondering why you don't plastidip any of the cars you restore?
@TheCorvetteBen6 жыл бұрын
Plastidip isn't restoring in my opinion. It's the cheap way out of a paint job.
@robertthompson35916 жыл бұрын
I agree...but it is easily removed and doesn't damage the original paint..(if it is original) under it....and can look pretty good for a daily driver with bad paint
@TheCorvetteBen6 жыл бұрын
The issue I see is the prep involved to make the plasti dip look as good as it can is pretty much the same as getting the car ready for paint. If you can spray the paint yourself, its about the same cost.
