What a gorgeous car! My parents had the same year car with an automatic! Same color. Same stripes.Same interior. Ours had no T-Tops but had the aluminum rims that were factory optional.225-70-15 tires. 3.42 open diff.

It sure is a nice on, one guy said here the small chrome bars are missing from front turn signals and the back tail lights are from Berlinetta he is right, my brother had one 79 Z28 4 speed no T-top no A/C 3.73 rear end posi original from the factory and he kept it for over 25 years super clean no rust never wither driven I don't know why he sold it he did not need the money? I have an 81 Z28 4 speed with T-tops and I still do No rust.

the clicking isnt the motor its something in the background guys. BUT the fuel gauge doesnt work, its missing the snorkel for the air cleaner, the rad car is aftermarket, and its most likely been restored in the past. no camaro came out of the factory with perfect gaps, so saying the gaps are perfect on a supposedly all original car concerns me. it has berlinetta tail lights the z28 tail lights did not have the chrome on them and the fuel door would say z28 so i wouldnt exactly say its all original and i would suspect its had at least one repaint in its life

You are correct in every aspect except the fuel door. The fuel door on a 79 Z28 would have the Camaro emblem, not the Z28 emblem. The Z28 emblem was put on in 1980. However, the emblem is the incorrect one for a 1979 Z28. Instead of red, white, and blue stripes, it should have the black stripes. (79 Z28 was the only year/car with that emblem).

Tag decodes as 79 for 1979, 11D for fourth week of November 1978 production, N for Norwood, OH assembly and the rest of the first line is a processing code. 62C is for the tan deluxe interior, 61U and 61U are for Medium Beige upper and lower exterior paint, L is for lacquer paint (cars made in Norwood were lacquer, cars made in Van Nuys, CA were water based), A51 is for bucket seats, A31 is for power windows, CC1 is for Fisher Body T-tops, Z28 is of course the Z28 option (most Norwood cars have it stamped, Van Nuys cars typically not), TAN is tan colored secondary interior parts (dash, package tray, etc.) and the last number is another processing number.

Those wouldn't be the correct series for a 1979 new issue. That style plate would have been issued in the 1980s, so it would be correct if you bought it used at a dealer or transferred plates to it, say circa 1983-1985. By the summer of 1986, NYS went to Liberty plates.

The gas gauge might once again become accurate if you check the frame ground that connects to the gas tank. Often, the point where that ground wire connects to the frame, rusts, disallowing an electrical signal. Your welcome. Johnny Radionic™

This car has a lot on it that is not original. Its missing the chrome cross bars that go across the front parking lights and rear tail lights are from a Berlinetta because the z28 did not have the gold bars that went in the middle of the tail lights and it's missing the snorkel off of the air cleaner assembly! My friend has an all original 1979 z28 Camaro and he had a hell of a hard time trying to find those replacement crossbars and his tail lights are a lot different than these!

those cross bars you mention Christian always broke off after I few years. We bought the first Black 1979 Z-28 in the Philadelphia area brand new in Dec 78 and by May of 1980 those bars had broken off.Due to being too hard on them while washing the car , and yes this one has wrong t/light lenses and gas door emblem

i got 2 z28 one is the z28 rs t top with full spoiler kit need to be restored but i'm going to have fun building it have a 454 stroker with 400 turbo for it both cars are complete with good bodies got the cars and motor for free it should be pretty cheap build came with new interior and a extra front clip in mint condition for a lt and a tunnel ram set up for the 454 but i have to finish my 68 pu project first

if i found one that original the first thing i would do is build up the stock 350 for max na hp, throw out all the smog shit, put some gears on it and do a little suspension work and then call it a day. stock outside appearance is fine. but i cant take the fact that a 5.7 only puts out 180 hp.

also Norwood cars where that and Ashes where the where the test pad is the the panel itself the steel panel would be black and that was the difference another difference between the Norwood cars and the California built cars is that the dash was half-black and then the color of the vinyl where they always painting it to match the car in California they just did some sloppy work out there in California very very sloppy work

built at van Nuys assembly plant buddy those cars compared to norwood cars California built models got nothing but you know what's funny is all the metal from that car came 5 minutes from my house up until 1989 even though they close Norwood in 87 to 89 Stamping Plant here in Cincinnati stamp every piece of metal for every Camaro built from 1967 to 1989 came right out of Ohio and then they shipped the s*** out there to California to be hacked by the Van Nuys workers who couldn't build the way out of a wet paper bag but good luck it looks nice but it being from California originally built in California you know if it was a Norwood car I'd be interested in it but it's California built its garbage thank you
