Had an '81 gold sport coupe. T-tops, rally wheels and the 305 V8 with 4 bbl carbs. Purchased at Burnham Chevrolet in Liberty, Tx. At the time, couldn't have been happier!

I STILL consider the second-generation (1970-'81) Camaro/Firebird to be the most beautiful design of the late 1970's/early '80's. I mean, just look at those lines!!!!!!

It was so great I just got in the car business in 1980 and I was selling those cars and watching these videos ( actually they were Magnivox video discs?) at age 19 at Batey Chevrolet in Carnegie Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. I don't know why it sticks in my mind but I sold my first Camaro to a couple named Frank and Norma Bisaca why I remember that I can't tell you it was navy blue base two-door

@@bertram46 I'll tell you why you can remember their names, because the idea of a "Frank", and a "Norma " behind the wheel of a TA, smoking the hell out of those tires is straight out of a Far Side cartoon! Nothing personal to anyone named Frank and Norma 😉🤣🤣👍😆😆😃😉

Even though the Chevrolet Camaro during the 1980-1981 model year was equipped with Chevrolet 5.0 Liter V-8, some of the Camaros was equipped with Pontiac 4.9 Liter V-8 or Oldsmobile 5.0 Liter V-8. That was unusual. Some of the Pontiac Firebirds during same model year were equipped with engines by Pontiac, Chevrolet or Oldsmobile. That was unusual as well

Wire wheel covers on a Camaro was ridiculous.

easily replaceable. What was even more ridiculous was a 3rd gen Camaro with an Iron Duke and 3 spd.

Glad I didn't live in California, the bullshit was gettin a head start way back then. What a drag.

You watch enough of these videos especially the GM truck ones, California motors always got worse fuel mileage than the 49 state ones.

The 2nd gen was pretty long in the tooth by this time but it’s amazing how good it still looked. The 3rd and 4th Gen would follow the same formula of aerodynamic styling until GM got onto the retro bandwagon with Ford and Dodge and ruined it.

I'd say the 2nd gen Camaro aged better than the contemporary Corvette which was also way over due for replacement. in regards of the 5th gen retro Camaro, I'd say it worked for the time being. This was the 1st time in history Camaro could overtake the Mustang on sales and I believe it led the pony car sales for about 5 years until ford came with the S550 Mustang. I'd say this is far from ruining it, it only begged for a couple hundred lbs weight reduction
