1979 Fiat Spider 124, 5k Service Part 1, fan switch, headlight relay, carb/choke clean, plugs

Thanks for this! I have a 1975 Fiat Spider 124 that needs a lot of work and I hardly know where to start. I appreciate you doing these when I'm so new to this car.

Pick a group and work ot out, like brakes. Master, lines, hose, calipers, pad, etc Parking brake cable. Then move onto the next. If you follow the 79 build it looks kinda random but I started in the trunk and worked forward. Fuel, rear suspension, etc

I would suggest moving to NGK BP6E - the iridiums work better in FI engines - carbs can foul those small tips easier. Glad they are working, but the NGK were strongly recommended to me by a lot of Fiat folks.

I agree. Coming from working primarily on vintage motorcycles, you want a big fat spark for performance. Iridium plugs are not good for these types of engine. Iridium plugs put off a different shaped discharge. Kind of like a tesla coil vs striking a ferro rod. One is like lightning, and the other is like sparks flying off a grinder

At 11:56 you point out where the fuel enters the carb. What would prevent fuel from entering or moving past the float into the Venturis? My carb is not getting fuel, I made sure fuel was flowing to the carb but it seems to stop at the float if that makes sense. Also the carb is new so this is the first time I’m trying to fire it up. Thanks in advance

So, these carbs are different depending on where you get them. Make sure your fuel line is connected to fuel in and not a vent. You'll need to fill the bowls with fuel from the pump. Shouldn't take but about 30 seconds or so. Should be able to work the throttle and see fuel spraying from the accelerator pump. Also ensure you have fuel in line connected and not the fuel return line.
