I remember back in '79 you can order a Volare/Aspen 'body-in-white' from the Mopar Direct Connection catalog and build it up as you wish. Those were the days...

All i can say is WOW! You dont see Volare/Aspens that are this clean, loved and well taken care of. They had their issues in the beginning but at the end of the day, theyre simple and sound vehicles. They represent the end of the old Chrysler in a lot of ways, with it being one of the last rear drive, V8-available, torsion bar cars that Chrysler built, excluding the Diplomat/Gran Fury/NYer of course. Super cool to see. I'm glad to see one that has been loved for so long!

Had one just like it was my first car. Didn't have the window louvers, they had broken before I got it. Mine was a V-8 318. Wish I still had it.

I own a 1980 Plymouth Volare four door Special model. Slant six, torqueflite, power steering. AM radio was the only other option. I bought it in 2007 from the estate of the original owner with 8400 miles. Currently has about 32,000. Completely stock with very few parts replaced to this day. It is my daily in the warmer months. I love it and will keep it until I have to give up driving. As a fan of slant six cars I really appreciate yours. I particularly like the fuel injection conversion.

Nice car!, I had one like that too - it completed my trifecta of Light Cashmere F body's at one time.👍👍👍👍 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6nGd4igq9tpaK8si=qVgwALWt4vYKn-vw

How did you keep it from rusting out? Ah the slant 6 225 one of the most indestructible engines ever made.

To slow rust (this does not totally prevent it) I save the oil that is drained from oil changes, put it in a rustproofing gun and then spray the underside, and all nooks and crannies with the oil. It needs to be done a lot at first, especially in the salty environments, but it will prevent (in most cases) total rot out.
