Those were absolutely fantastic cars when they were new and have only gotten better as time has passed. Perfect car in perfect condition.

I had the same car in 1989, I sold it to a friend who still has it and drives it. This looks like another great one, the silver really looks good on a T/A.

This what my Dad bought my mom for her 16th Birthday. He was 24. Hers was the oldsmobile automatic though. She cheated on my Dad 16 times and in 1989 she traded it in for a chevey corsica. He had a black 77 TransAm when they met. 4 kids later and we're all grown and she's never wants to be found. Drugs and looks like shit with worn out dentures! My dad got his 77 black and gold with red velvet interior and then got my mother at the age of 16 the silver 10th anniversary TransAm. My oldest brother was born in 80, my 2nd in 81, me in 85 and my lil sis in 91. After so many times of not knowing where she dissapeared to he was a fantastic single dad and still is even though he's almost 70. He didn't like the 82-92 body style and he drove the 93 off the showroom floor...all black with charcoal leather interior. It was such a nice car. Sounded like a kitten. She came back which i loved because she was my mom and he did his best to protect her, but, she left him many of times due to guys feeling her brain and drugs. He is our rock. Anyways, in 2001 he sold car out right with 37,000 miles on it for $13,000. I was 16. And i wanted it so bad. I did get to drive it just to have him follow me to go to park it in the publix parking lot to help set up the for sale sign on it. We got my Dad an 81 TransAm for Father's day a few years ago. We took him to the Ritz and had dinner which my sister worked there and supised him when we came out. He had no clue it was his car...lol. it practically sits in the garage and he says its just to low for him to get in and out of now that he's older. Lol😂 but we have our fun with it.

Yes it's really sad because in the 70's Pontiac was the best that GM had and then boom, just like that they were gone.

I bought a '79 Trans Am "Smokey and The Bandit" black with gold pinstripping, gold firebird on hood and t-tops for $9,300 new. There was a 10th Anniversary one for sale but it was over $12,000.

Wow. The black bandit cars were my favorite until they came out with this one. They are absolutely beautiful and timeless IMO.

I'd rather have that's been driven and restored instead of a low-mileage original. A ridiculously high price for an old car with insanely low mileage is NEVER a good deal. Here's why: As soon as you start actually using it, things are going to start breaking. I bought a 1979 just like this one (10th anniversary w/ 400/speed) in 2001 (i.e. 22 years old at the time) that had only 44k miles on it, and sold it 10k miles later. In that 10k miles, the fuel pump, power brake booster, power steering pump and A/C evaporator all failed. Not from being worn out, but but basically from "rigor mortis" - just old age. So basically, an old car with crazy-low mileage is only worth a bit more than a clean example of one with more correct mileage - IOW, only from being pristine. Only a car that's been restored to like-new condition is worth top dollar. Buy a low-mileage original at your own risk.

Looks like a blue engine. Is it the Oldsmobile 403? Cuz the Pontiac 400 was red

nope Pontiac was blue , plus olds engine had the oil fill at the front of the engine

All GM engines were Corporate Blue by 1977 with the phasing in beginning in 1976. And I don't even remember Pontiac have a red engine ever, definitely no time since the 70's. Buick engines were red back in the day and Pontiac was a different shade of metallic blue.

Car is nice but something seems off with the gearing. It should have 3.23's in it. The way your driving it. It seems like 2.56's Maybe i'm crazy idk
@thud9797
@thud9797 8 ай бұрын
Seems right. It's a close ratio 4-speed so less drop between gears and he's winding it out pretty good. I like this setup, the 3.23 is a good all around gear.

@@thud9797 i know. The gearing is 2.43, 1.61, 1.23, 1.00 with 3.23 rear. Hes like goin 50 in first gear !
@thud9797
@thud9797 8 ай бұрын
@@frankartale1026 Yep that close ratio will do that. Some said they liked it because they could hit 60 mph in 1st gear although you need some rpm. Before the T-10 the Muncie close ratio had a 2.20 first gear and with the Chevy solid lifter 6500 rpm engines and a 3.31 or 3.36 gear it would hit 70 mph in first. 😀

@@thud9797 ive had 3 of these. 4 spd cars. 6 if you count my 301,4spd and 2 81 305 4spd. Those have different gearing though. I gotta rewatch the video.
