Why would anyone take the A/C out of any car it doesn't make it faster.just never understood that other than that it's a beautiful car
@Necronomous3 ай бұрын
Many old cars have catched fire in the enginebay due to the A/C pump not working correctly. Cars with A/C had more fire in the enginebay then a car with no A/C pump attached according to old statistics. That was because the A/C stopped working and the owners wasn't paying attention of that. So even if the A/C pump takes a few horspowers away, it wasn't why they took away the A/C pump and yes, fixing a A/C pump back in the days that was broken almost costed as much as the entire car, so that was another reason they took it away plus that they could overheat when they didn't work correctly.

Never heard of the A/C Fire relationship, usually guys just wanted more power and less weight as if removing the a/c would give them some noticeable benefit. Happened a lot back in the day, today as we are getting older most want a/c but unfortunately still have people hacking up the cars and removing the a/c.

@@thud9797 I am not talking about racingcars now. I am talking about AC pumps in general when cars was in daily use. Sure there could be a short circuit that made the car burn as well. But when the AC pumps overheated they could catch fire. A guy that had a nice and clean Corvette Stingray that he renovated. The problem was that he did not renovated the AC, so after a hot summerday he went for a longer ride, and when he turned the car off, went inside and suddenly the entire car was in flames. They went over what could have started the fire and it showed that the AC was worn out and on that very hot summerday the AC catched fire, so it wasn't a short circuit as they first believed. He had renovated everything on that car but didn't renovated the AC pump because it worked nice and chilled nice. You can't understand how mad he was about himself. I didn't knew this guy in person thou, but my uncles, my mom and dad knew who he was and told me everything and they really felt sorry for him. The strange thing is that it chilled not bad, not good but ok. Probably worked too hard so in the end it overheated itself and catched fire. This is what happened with the older classic cars with AC, so first of all it was to expensive to repair and they could catch fire in the enginebay when they started to worn out. So therefor people started to take the AC away entirely.

@@Necronomous Ok copy that, too bad what happened. I also remember when guys would use propane as a refrigerant, it worked but that was definitely a huge fire risk! 😀

One would think one might wanna clean the car inside and out before the for-sale vid. Perhaps provide factory correct floor mats, not a big investment. Matching numbers would make this car worth some money but there’s a story behind this car and it’s not a positive one. Really a shame because a proper SE in this condition would be a keeper.

Those came in two versions one with the 403 olds engine or pontiac 400. Most people agree the olds engine one had more power.
@tomcherry7029 Жыл бұрын
Lmao no most people don't agree the 403 had more power, the 400 W72 in 1979 was rated at 220hp by the factory the 403 was factory rated at 185 hp , NHRA dyno tested the 400 and found it to have 260-280 hp.

Yeah but the 403 ran better no matter how it was rated. Thats from many people i know that have owned both. @@tomcherry7029
