Just FYI - the track is a KPM Library cue called "Gathering Crowds" by John Scott... just in case you ever want to listen to it.

Cardinals had some great talent: Roy green, oj anderson, stump mitchell, jim hart- just a handful of unforgettable talent

Note that the Cardinals are wearing black armbands. They had a player named J.V. Cain who died of a rare congenital heart defect during training camp that year. There was a crazy rumor at the time that the death was related to electrolyte drinks, which was not the case.

Firing Don Coryell, or pushing him out, and replacing him with Bud Wilkinson, was about as sound a decision as Jerry chasing Jimmy Johnson away. Was it sheer ego on Bidwill's part, unable to share the limelight with a coach that had a large personality and reputation? So the Cards chased away a coach who had delivered three ten win plus seasons in four years, for a geriatric college football legend from the Paleozoic Era. Also after the 1977 season, the Skins fired George Allen in an equally stupid move, missing the playoffs for four straight years. Wonder what St. Louis' fans thought when Coryell almost immediately started taking the Chargers to the playoffs while the Cards spun their wheels and didn't make the playoffs until the Round of 16 strike year of 1982, 41-16 loss to the Packers? Then never make the post-season again.

Super bowl against Steelers, with Curt Warner, I'd call that post-season.
